First prizes of $500 are to be awarded for both the "most creative"
and "most fashionable" hats, as selected by a panel of
fully-accredited, hat-savvy judges. Second prizes for each are $250, with
third-place winners getting $100 apiece.
Contestants should check in trackside at the Raceway between 1-4 PM to
register. The judges’ review takes place at 4:30 PM, with the winners
announced at 5 PM.
Also, starting at 4 PM, the first 500 Empire Club members who stop by the
Gotham Palace main promotions booth receive a free two-horse, $2 exacta box on
the Derby.
Please be advised that Churchill Downs’ first post for both Friday (Kentucky
Oaks) and Saturday (Kentucky Derby) is 10:30 AM, with Yonkers’
regularly-scheduled harness programs set for 7:10 PM. A complete simulcast calendar
