Truth is that blogging is old technology, and this old timer is not about to learn tools required to provide you with the information you seek in a timely manner. </p><p>But who are we kidding, this blog has been on life support for a while as illness has kept me from posting press releases with any regularity; it is clearly time to shut down and let the next generation pick up the gauntlet and continue to promote the sport.</p><p>It was fun while it lasted. president of the New York City chapter of the U.S. Harness Writers Association
and a columnist for Harness Racing Update, has been named USHWA’s Member of the
Year by a committee of former winners of the award.</span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Verdana",sans-serif; font-size: 10.0pt;">Little has been an
USHWA director for more than two decades and was a national officer for 10
years, including two years as president. She serves on multiple committees for
the organization, most notably for the annual Dan Patch Awards banquet and as co-chair
of the Clyde Hirt Journalism Workshop.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Verdana",sans-serif; font-size: 10.0pt;">“I am pleased the
committee chose Debbie,” USHWA President Barry Lefkowitz said. “She has done a
great job, particularly with the Clyde Hirt Workshop and the Dan Patch Awards
banquet, and I’m glad she is being recognized for her hard work.”</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Verdana",sans-serif; font-size: 10.0pt;">Little assists with
the planning of the Dan Patch Awards banquet and is responsible for organizing
the live production of the awards show as well as preparing the event’s
scripts.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Verdana",sans-serif; font-size: 10.0pt;">As a longtime advisor
with the annual four-day Clyde Hirt Journalism Workshop, she has overseen
nearly every logistical aspect of the program, which introduces college
students to harness racing by giving aspiring media members the opportunity to
cover the Hambletonian at The Meadowlands. This includes arranging student
assignments with media outlets, setting up mentoring with editors and other
industry professionals, and coordinating travel and meals.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Verdana",sans-serif; font-size: 10.0pt;">In addition to those
responsibilities, Little also coordinates production of the artwork of honorees
displayed in the Communicators Hall of Fame, not to mention helping at the
races every year at Goshen Historic Track in New York and the Orleans County
Fair in Vermont. Little’s husband, Dave, is the announcer at both venues.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Verdana",sans-serif; font-size: 10.0pt;">Born Deborah Ann DeBiase,
she was introduced to harness racing at an early age when she and her father
would watch New York City Off-Track Betting’s “Racing from Yonkers” show. The
Yonkers native saw her first harness race – not surprisingly – at Yonkers
Raceway, when her parents took her to the Westchester County Fair.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Verdana",sans-serif; font-size: 10.0pt;">Her first job in the
industry was in the Publicity Department at Yonkers in 1987, sending out
entries and results. She would later do the same job at The Meadowlands. In
1993, Little was hired as a handicapper, harness writer and racing clerk at the
New York Post, where she spent almost 27 years.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Verdana",sans-serif; font-size: 10.0pt;">She currently writes
a weekly column for Harness Racing Update called “Meadowlands Matters,” which
deals with the happenings at the New Jersey oval. She is also a regular
contributor to TROT Magazine and the Standardbred Journal. This past January,
Little was named the winner of the 2020/2021 John Hervey Award for feature
writing for her story, “The Legend of Walter Case Jr.,” which appeared in TROT.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Verdana",sans-serif; font-size: 10.0pt;">Little will be
honored as USHWA’s Member of the Year at the Dan Patch Awards sponsored by
Caesars Entertainment on Feb. 19, 2023, at Rosen Shingle Creek in Orlando. Room
reservations for the weekend can be made at the USHWA website at <a href="https://na01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fusharnesswriters.com%2F&data=05%7C01%7C%7Cddd61488938c4af2b1ac08dadee3e217%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435aaaaaaaaaaaa%7C1%7C0%7C638067367578617481%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=TDdboGXAaDp7qW5NBORN8lCtpiK%2B4ef2YJIxAVCxMcU%3D&reserved=0" target="_blank">usharnesswriters.com</a>.</span><o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 105%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt;"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 105%;">EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ – Friday night
figures to bring bettors ready to fire away at the start of The Meadowlands
card, as the first race (post time, 6:20 p.m.) will offer what promises to be a
giant 20-cent Pick-5 pool.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 105%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt;"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 105%;">Last Saturday (Dec. 10), there were
no winning tickets sold on the wager that spans races one through five,
creating a carryover of $47,199, which will have dreams of making a big score
dancing through players’ heads, especially when one considers that on Dec. 3,
the P5 payoff was $10,969.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 105%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt;"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 105%;">The last time there was a Pick-5
carryover (March 12), total action resulted in a “negative takeout”, meaning
players who cashed got more money back than was put in the pool. Here’s how:</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="gmail-msolistparagraph" style="line-height: 105%; margin-bottom: 0in; margin-left: .5in; margin-right: 0in; margin-top: 0in;"><span style="font-family: Symbol; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 105%;">·</span><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman",serif; font-size: 7.0pt; line-height: 105%;">
</span><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 105%;">The carryover of $43,342
was not subject to the already low 15 percent takeout</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="gmail-msolistparagraph" style="line-height: 105%; margin-bottom: 0in; margin-left: .5in; margin-right: 0in; margin-top: 0in;"><span style="font-family: Symbol; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 105%;">·</span><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman",serif; font-size: 7.0pt; line-height: 105%;">
</span><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 105%;">There was $268,940 in
“new money” bet, meaning $40,341 was removed for the takeout</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="gmail-msolistparagraph" style="line-height: 105%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt; margin-left: .5in; margin-right: 0in; margin-top: 0in;"><span style="font-family: Symbol; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 105%;">·</span><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman",serif; font-size: 7.0pt; line-height: 105%;">
</span><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 105%;">The total pool of
$271,941 was $3,000 more than the “new money” wagered, creating a “negative
takeout” where players got back 101 percent, rather than the usual 85</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 105%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt;"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 105%;">Some other recent pools pumped up by
carryovers include the Nov. 19 Early 50-cent Pick-4, when a $49,000 carryover
led to a total pool of $344,035, and the Nov. 25, 20-cent Pick-6 double
carryover of $32,429, which led to action that totaled just under $140,000.
Those who hit the Pick-4 walked away with $3,269 and Pick-6 winners were paid
off $6,101.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 105%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt;"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 105%;">“Based on our previous carryovers,”
said Big M Chief Operating Officer and General Manager Jason Settlemoir, “we
can expect an enormous Pick-5 pool on Friday.”</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 105%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt;"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 105%;">It’s those types of pools that keep
the action at the mile oval big.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 105%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt;"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 105%;">In fact, Saturdays have been super of
late. Four of the last five Saturday programs have seen the $3-million handle
barrier busted, and the one time during that span betting failed to reach that
plateau, total action was $2,999,157 (on Nov. 19).</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 105%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt;"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 105%;">“We are on a roll, there is no
question about it,” said Settlemoir. “Our mile-track wagering product is
superb, especially when we can roll out full fields, which our customers go for
in a big way. Our Fall Meet Saturdays are averaging over $3 million per card, a
number not seen in over a decade.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 105%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt;"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 105%;">“The horsemen, the horseplayers and
our employees are a major part of the New Jersey resurgence at The Meadowlands,
and their loyalty will never be forgotten.”</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 105%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt;"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 105%;">When horsemen support the entry box,
the player bets more, creating an extremely constructive cycle for all. This
weekend, both the Friday and Saturday programs will feature 14 races.
Remarkably, of those 28 dashes, 27 will have 10 horses get behind the gate. The
one race that won’t, is the nine-horse Saturday night featured 10th
race, where the impressive Nik Drennan-trained Crunch Time A will seek to stay
perfect in four North American starts. </span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 105%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt;"><b><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 105%;">TURN POCKET CHANGE INTO FOLDING
GREEN: </span></b><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 105%;">Last weekend
(Dec. 9-10), there were some typical windfalls that blew away players betting
just a dime or two.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 105%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt;"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 105%;">On Friday, the 20-cent Survivor
Pick-7 returned $3,069 while the 20-cent Pick-6 came back $5,846.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 105%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt;"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 105%;">Saturday’s stellar payouts included a
pair of 10-cent Superfectas ($2,432 in the fourth race; $1,269 in the fifth) as
well as the Pick-6 ($1,072).</span><o:p></o:p></p>

Cal Expo Harness</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Track record holder
Pridecrest, fresh from a dominating victory over a sloppy track in the Joe
Lighthill Memorial last weekend, heads the cast in Friday night’s featured
$8,250 Open Trot.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 14pt;">There will be a 10-race card
presented by Watch and Wager LLC with a first post of 6:45 p.m. and the program
will also feature the $5,000 Funicello/Holt Prep for the pacing fillies and
mares which has brought out a full and very contentious field of 10.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Pridecrest is a 10-year-old
son of Angus Hall who races for Chris Schick, takes his lessons from Kathie
Plested and will once again have the services of Mooney Svendsen.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 14pt;">He comes into this contest
with 54 wins from his 221 starts, $490,000 in earnings and a 1:53 2/5 mark that
stands as the course standard.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Sent off the slight 3-2
choice in the Lighthill, Pridecrest dropped into an early stalking position,
came out to attack to the final bend and streaked home for Svendsen while
posting a three and a quarter-length decision.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Rock Party was his most
immediate victim in that affair and will look to reverse that finish for Chupp
Racing Stable, trainer Bob Johnson and pilot Luke Plano. He was hard used when
first-over last week and figures to be much tighter for Friday’s main event.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Completing the field are
Silverhill Volo for Chip Lackey; Mandeville for Gerry Longo; the Nathalie
Tremblay-trained Swan County and Pridecrest’s stablemate Daytona Dreamin.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 14.0pt;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><b><i><span style="font-size: 20.0pt;">A Major Omen pulls off
a theft <o:p></o:p></span></i></b></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 14pt;">A Major Omen literally stole
last weekend’s Dave Goldschmidt Memorial Pace and his accomplice was his
77-year-old owner/driver/trainer Gerry Longo.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Able to get away with a clear
lead in :31 2/5 and 1:02 1/5 over the track listed as good, Longo and A Major
Omen came the back half in a tick under :57 to secure the score by a head over
the pocket-sitting Albergo Hanover.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Longo, who went over the
3,000-win mark as a driver here back in January, is now sitting on 999 as a
trainer and continues to show that age is just a number for the man with
familiar green, black and gold colors.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Gerry was introduced to the
game by Larry Gregory as a teenager which led him to the backstretch at Batavia
Downs in New York after his graduation from high school.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 14pt;">“It was about two years later
that I started driving,” Longo recalled. “My first winner was in 1966 at the
Tiffen Fair in Ohio and one of my best years was in 1972 when I set a couple of
world records and beat Joe O’Brien for the driving title at Hollywood Park.”</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 14pt;">As for A Major Omen, his
Goldschmidt score was his 31st from 111 lifetime trips to the post and pushed
his bankroll over the $311,000 mark with a 1:49 2/5 mark that was established
two years ago at the The Meadowlands.</span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 106%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt;"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 106%;">EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ – For someone who
started out working for her trainer dad as a teenager, good things have
certainly come fast and furiously ever since for Jessica Otten.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 106%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt;"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 106%;">The 25-year-old Otten, who is the
national face of harness racing having just completed covering the Breeders
Crown at Woodbine Mohawk Park for Fox Sports 2, took on another big gig at The
Meadowlands Friday night, sitting alongside Dave Little as one-half of the new
TV team on the track’s nightly simulcast presentation.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 106%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt;"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 106%;">“I was actually really nervous to sit
in this chair,” said Otten. “Nervous for what people would say or think,
because I don’t want people to think I am here to replace Dave Brower [who
passed away unexpectedly last month]. Because there is no replacing Dave
Brower. </span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 106%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt;"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 106%;">“I still have my marketing and social
media responsibilities at the track, so sitting on set, looking over the
program every night will be more work. I’ll also be handling the scheduling and
formats and getting people where they need to be when they need to be there, so
it’s going to be a challenge. I put in a lot of hours here, so there will be a
lot of adjusting. I’m a perfectionist, and there were things – both big and
small – Brower did that we took for granted. We want to continue to do those
things well, while I make some subtle changes to the TV show and the way we do
things. I am looking forward to the challenges ahead of me.”</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 106%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt;"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 106%;">Otten got off to a good start in the
co-host chair, tabbing Thndrfrmthethron N ($9.00) in the first race and
Svengali ($5.00) in the second for the daily double ($28.40). Otten made it
three winners from her first four races in the hot seat when she had Whimsical
Journey ($10.60) in the fourth and finished off the evening with five winners
when Hughie Junior N ($13.20) took the 10th and Romantic Warrior
($3.40) the 13th. </span><o:p></o:p></p>

Brower’s passing,” said Big M Chief Operating Officer and General Manager Jason

that we will have Jessica down on the set every night. Her expertise as a
horseman and handicapper will be a great addition to the team.”</span><o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><b>Monticello, N.Y. </b>– Adam Moeykens earned his first
Pari Mutual win on Tuesday, October 11 at Monticello Raceway, driving The
Gogester in 2:04.3. That’s a new lifetime mark for the three-year-old son of
Sebastian K, who is trained by Moeykens’ father, Joseph. </p><p class="MsoNormal">The 19-year-old Moeykens is a native of Honesdale, PA. He
was enamored with harness racing early in life. A fourth-generation horseman,
he was exposed to the sport by his father and spent a lot of time in the
backstretch of the Honesdale Fairgrounds, Pocono Downs and Monticello Raceway.</p><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">When asked about the milestone, Moeykens said, “It was a
cool moment. I have been dreaming about it since I was a kid. It was a perfect
day. Everyone was here. My mom came up and all of my family and friends were
here.”</p><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Moeykens has been paying his dues this year at the Mighty M.
He’s been there every Tuesday for the past year, getting his qualifying drives
from his own stock and receiving mounts from fellow horsemen who were helpful
along the way. He was recently given his Provisional License.</p><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">“He has a bright future ahead of him,” said Shawn Wiles,
General Manager of Monticello Raceway. “Many young horsemen have used
Monticello Raceway as a proving ground, such as Jordan and Cory Stratton,
Patrick Lachance, Austin Siegelman, Jimmy Marohn Jr., and the next generation
of younger drivers following in their footsteps such as Brandon Parker, McGwire
Sowers, and Joe Chindano Jr. Hopefully Adam can follow in their paths.”</p><p class="MsoNormal">A bevy of well-wishers, including his proud sister, Maggie,
greeted him in the winner’s circle after he reached this important milestone.</p><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p>That Blog Guyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15487597769210721585noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4835523698806843852.post-14528182529114246492022-10-07T11:00:00.001-04:002022-10-09T20:40:53.387-04:00 DAVE BROWER DEAD AT 53<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Meadowlands Media Relations</span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 106%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt;"><o:p></o:p></p>

Meadowlands’ September ‘mini meet’ is now a tad smaller as tonight’s (Thursday,
Sept. 8) race card was canceled late last week, but that will only serve to
strengthen the programs that will take place this Friday (Sept. 9) and Saturday
(Sept. 10). Post time is 6:20 p.m.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 105%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt;"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 105%;">The New Jersey Classic Series, the

geldings sports a purse of $275,000 and stars Beal winner – and Hambletonian
third-place finisher – Temporal Hanover, a Marcus Melander trainee who has hit
the board in all eight of his 2022 starts, winning half.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 105%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt;"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 105%;">In addition, the $275,000 NJCS “A”

thoroughbred turf racing over the Big M’s seven-eighths-mile grass course.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 105%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt;"><b><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 105%;">SIMULCAST HEAVEN: </span></b><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 105%;">Last Saturday (Sept. 3), simulcast
patrons were treated to the top two horses in training – one in harness racing
and the other in the thoroughbred game – adding to resumes that were already
out of this world.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 105%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt;"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 105%;">Bulldog Hanover upped his winning
streak to nine at Woodbine Mohawk Park after taking the Canadian Pacing Derby
in 1:46.4, a time that equaled the track and Canadian record.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 105%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt;"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 105%;">During his win streak, the 4-year-old
son of Shadow Play-B J’s Squall, has taken the Roll With Joe, Graduate, William
Haughton Memorial, Dan Patch and CPD. Of those five big wins, the slowest mile
he paced was a lightning-quick 1:48.1. His 1:45.4 clocking in the Haughton – as
every harness fan knows – is the fastest mile ever in the history of harness
racing.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 105%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt;"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 105%;">Trained by Jack Darling and driven by
Dexter Dunn, ‘Bulldog’ has become the sport’s biggest attraction. To prove that
point, all one needs to do is follow the money.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 105%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt;"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 105%;">In six of his last seven starts,
wagering on the race he was in was at least $356,204. The high-water mark was
at The Big M on Meadowlands Pace Night, when $465,667 was pushed through the
windows on the Haughton.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 105%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt;"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 105%;">“Bulldog Hanover has become a
standardbred superstar and has elevated the attention and focus of Grand
Circuit races,” said John Campbell, the president and chief executive officer
of the Hambletonian Society. “His legion of fans is growing with every race.
The people are tuning in to not only watch his races, but they are wagering as
well.”</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 105%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt;"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 105%;">Bulldog Hanover’s schedule for the
remainder of the year includes the Hoosier Park Pacing Derby (Sept. 23), Dayton
Pacing Derby (Oct. 1) and the Allerage at the Red Mile (Oct. 9) before the
Breeders Crown at WMP (Oct. 29) and then, possibly, the TVG Open Pace at The
Big M (Nov. 26).</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 105%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt;"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 105%;">While the Bulldog remains the biggest
attraction in the sulky sport, Flightline is the headliner of the thoroughbred
game.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 105%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt;"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 105%;">In Saturday’s (Sept. 3) $1-million
Pacific Classic at Del Mar Racetrack, the best dirt horse in the world did
nothing to weaken that statement, winning by a remarkable 19¼ lengths while
putting up a Beyer Speed Index of 126. The win earned him a spot in the
starting gate for the Breeders’ Cup Classic in November.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 105%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt;"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 105%;">How extraordinary is a 126 Beyer

published Sunday. Only Ghostzapper’s 128 was higher than Flightline and Formal
Gold’s 126 in the past 31 years.</span><o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 106%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt;"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 106%;">EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ – It was three
weeks ago on Hambletonian Day that Instagram Model came from off the pace to
take the $355,000 Jim Doherty Memorial in a lifetime-best 1:53, so it came as
no surprise when the daughter of Chapter Seven-Check Out Trixie won a $20,000
division of the Kindergarten Series for 2-year-old trotting fillies at The Meadowlands
Thursday night as the mile oval kicked off an eight-card September “mini meet”.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 106%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt;"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 106%;">The Annie Stoebe trainee, whose last
start resulted in a dominant 4-length score in New York Sire Stakes action on
Aug. 19 at Vernon Downs, scored for the fourth time from just five lifetime
starts after sitting a pocket trip behind Grand Fashion.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 106%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt;"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 106%;">After grabbing the lead at the head
of the stretch, Instagram Model went on to a 1¾-length win in 1:56 to up her
win streak to three. She returned $2.40 to her backers with Andy McCarthy
driving as the 1-5 public choice, and in the process, upped her lifetime
bankroll to $206,575. Grand Fashion held second with Defacement third.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 106%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt;"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 106%;">After the Doherty, Stoebe told
DRF/Harness: “When it comes to staking any horse, I like to pick two major
races that I want to win. I went with the Doherty and the [Oct. 28] Breeders
Crown [at Woodbine Mohawk Park]. Her entire schedule revolves around those two
races. I amazingly accomplished my first goal and the next goal is to have her
ready for the Breeders Crown.”</span><o:p></o:p></p>

(Huntsville-Bet On Hill) in a split for 2-year-old male pacers. Chris’ son

thought he’d be a groom.” Tetrick, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame two
years ago, won his first race with Travelin Legacy for a purse of $1,168. Since
then, he’s won five Meadowlands Paces, four Driver of the Year Awards and has

<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 106%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt;"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 106%;">EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ – Still basking
in the afterglow of a Hambletonian Day card that saw the fourth-highest
single-card total handle (combining North American and international outlets)
in the history of the track, The Meadowlands returns with live racing tonight
(Thursday, Sept. 1) when an eight-day fall “mini meet” kicks off. Post time is
6:20 p.m.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 106%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt;"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 106%;">Betting on the 16-race, Aug. 6 Hambo
Day card totaled $8,555,851. Only 2002 ($8,819,235), 2005 ($9,015,019) and 2014
($8,739,953) saw more money pushed through the windows on the “Greatest Day in
Harness Racing”.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 106%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt;"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 106%;">There will be eight live programs at
The Big M over the next three weeks before harness racing goes on hiatus for
six weeks. Thoroughbred action will take place from Sept. 23 through Oct. 22.
Live harness will then return on Nov. 4.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 106%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt;"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 106%;">Harness racing at The Meadowlands
will take place on two Thursdays (Sept. 1 and 8) and three Fridays and
Saturdays (Sept. 2, 3, 9, 10, 16 and 17) during September.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 106%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt;"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 106%;">This weekend’s action will feature
the Kindergarten and NJ Classic Series. In mid-November, the Kindergarten will
have four finals that will go for estimated purses totaling $1 million. The
brand-new NJ Classic Series for horses bred in the Garden State will no doubt
help to keep the breeding industry rolling. The series will have six finals on
Sept. 16 for horses of high – and moderate – calibers vying for total purses
estimated at $1.25 million.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 106%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt;"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 106%;">The harness racing spotlight will
shift to out-of-town Grand Circuit events when Big M harness is down. Some of
the bigger races that Meadowlands’ simulcast patrons can look forward to are
the Little Brown Jug at the Delaware (OH) Fairgrounds on Sept. 22, the Kentucky
Futurity at Lexington’s (KY) Red Mile on Oct. 9 and the 12-race, $6.7-million
Breeders Crown at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Oct. 28-29.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 106%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt;"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 106%;">Once the Crown trophies have been
doled out, live harness racing will then return to The Meadowlands on Nov. 4
for the “Fall Championship Meet”.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 106%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt;"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 106%;">The Kindergarten finals will take
place Nov. 12. Two weeks later, the Big M will host its third biggest card of
the year – after Meadowlands Pace Night and Hambletonian Day – when “Fall Final
Four/TVG Finals Night” takes center stage on Nov. 26. That evening, divisional
titles, and, quite possibly, Horse of the Year honors will be determined on a
card where estimated total purses are $2.6 million.</span><o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 106%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt;"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 106%;">At Saratoga, seven horses – four from
Todd Pletcher’s barn – will get in the gate for the $1-million Jockey Club Gold

<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 106%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt;"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 106%;">Harness enthusiasts will be checking

much-heralded Joviality S (Brian Sears) leads of field of nine filly trotters
in the last NYSS leg before next week’s NYSS finals at Tioga Downs. The
filly by Chapter Seven is trained by Marcus Melander. She is seven for
nine as a sophomore. She beat the boys in the MGM Yonkers Trot and
finished second in the Hambletonian getting beat by fellow NY bred Cool Papa
Bell. She has won over $700,000 this season and is north of $1,600,000 in
her young career. </p><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 8.0pt;"><o:p></o:p></p>

$458,000 in her career. <o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 106%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt;"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 106%;">EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ – There’s a
reason Christmas only comes once a year. The same can be said for Hambletonian
Day at The Meadowlands, which is Saturday (Aug. 6).</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 106%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt;"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 106%;">It’s so special, you couldn’t do
anything this big more than once every 12 months.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 106%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt;"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 106%;">The drama will begin with a special
early post time of noon when the field for the first of 16 action-packed races
heads to the gate. There are 10 stakes events sprinkled throughout the day,
headlined by the $1 million Hambletonian and $500,000 Hambletonian Oaks.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 106%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt;"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 106%;">A big crowd is likely, with
temperatures expected to be in the mid-80s.</span><o:p></o:p></p>

live on track. The greatest stars from all over the world. The top horses in
every division. The excitement. The food. The live music. A drawing for a grand
prize of $10,000 for our Masterminds contest. This card will produce our
biggest handle – and very likely, our biggest attendance – of 2022, so for
horseplayers, they get to play in what will be our biggest pools of the year.
The Big M is the place to be this Saturday.”</span><o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 106%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt;"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 106%;">The Hambletonian Oaks tops the
undercard and has a post time of 4:48 p.m. That event will be shown as part of
Fox Sports 2’s (FS2) “America’s Day at the Races” show, highlighting the
thoroughbred action from Saratoga on Whitney Day, which showcases one of the
best cards of the season in that sport. Post time for the Whitney is 5:48 p.m.

here from as far as Sicily, as near, if correct Treviso and somewhere in
between., if Tuscany is in between. </span><br style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;" />
<span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;">The Italians were eager to race at
the Meadowlands as have similar groups in the past. The race office welcomed us
and then reversed oars under orders fro on high.</span><br style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;" />
<br style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;" />
<span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;">The alleged reason raised
centers around a protective NY state law, similar to that in NJ that in state
residents can only bet through an in state ADW and a law which mandates
that a NY thoroughbred track must take in state NY harness signal. This
was a deal made many years ago when a law allowing the thoroughbreds to
simulcast t-bred races in our nighttime space became law. NYRA, through
its NYRA Bets (In state ADW) takes NY harness racing exclusively and has its
own separate Oregon ADW, which takes bets on out of state ( non NY )
harness signals from NY residents. </span><br style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;" />
<span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;">Problem for NYRA, its Oregon
ADW, like all out of state ADWs incurs a surcharge, to give the in state
ADWs , taking wagers from NY residents, a completive playing field.</span><br style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;" />
<br style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;" />
<span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;">That surcharge, collected
from ALL the out of state ADWs, Twin Spires etc., gets divided up
throughout the NY industry. Part of the surcharge ends up in
NY harness and thoroughbred purses. NYRA gets a big share of that money
back, as does Yonkers, Saratoga, etc. </span><br style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;" />
<br style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;" />
<span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;">Harness gets less of that
money than NYRA. The reason being because NYRA Bets does a large volume of
business. While our money dwarfs their share of the surcharge it is significant
money to us and is based upon a formula for the divvying up that money
based upon on track and ADW handle. Empire City Bets (Yonkers ADW)
does less volume than NYRA BETS. </span><br style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;" />
<br style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;" />
<span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;">Yonkers and other harness tracks’
purses receive a good share of the surcharge money anyway as the handle
from all those out of state ADWs has grown exponentially over the years. </span><br style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;" />
<br style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;" />
<span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;">NYRA in the last legislative
session wanted to increase the amount of the surcharge and pretty much keep it
all. That was pretty much universally not supported in NYS, except by NYRA. </span><br style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;" />
<span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;">Now the Meadowlands guru has
prohibited the Italians from racing in the Hambo amateur race because NY
harness will not give up its revenue to benefit NYRA. </span><br style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;" />
<br style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;" />
<span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;">NY harness interests will not
voluntarily give up revenue to NYRA or any NJ interests advocating now on its
behalf. </span><br style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;" />
<br style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;" />
<span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;">This is complicated as you can
see. I had to advise the Italians of this decision and ask you to support
entering horses for the races beginning Friday August 5th at Yonkers
the date originally set for them to race in the Hambo amateur race. The
condition for trotters is on the sheet and in stead of a purse of $11,500 the
race will go for $20,000. The Italians have hundreds of wins and if you ever go
to Italy or Europe to race they are beyond great hosts. It is too bad that they
have been punished or put in the middle. </span><br style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;" />
<br style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;" />
<span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;">Please support the box for the
Italians at Yonkers which has stepped up to fill the void on August
5th. Yonkers has put similar purses and conditions for a pace and
trot on Monday the 8th of August, $20,000. If you can put one in for the
Italians that would be kind and appropriate. </span><br style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;" />

Mazurek, for Buffalo Raceway</b></p><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">HAMBURG, N.Y. --- "It was nice to get through the
racing season without any (Covid-19) restrictions," said Buffalo Raceway
Assistant General Manager Jon Cramer as the track completed the live meet on
Saturday (July 16).</p><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p>A switch from evening start times to afternoon racing
resulted in pretty good results. "The handle was slightly down both on and
off track for the year but the winter months played havoc," Cramer said.</p><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">He continued by saying, "We are going to also look at
our promotions this fall, on what worked and what didn't. I am sure one of the
promotions that will return is the Kentucky Derby Party."</p><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Jim Morrill Jr. collected his second consecutive driving
title and fourth overall at Buffalo Raceway by scoring 91 victories in just 303
starts. He was also the leading purse earner with $867,305. Drew Monti was
second in the rankings with 75 wins with Kevin Cummings third with 65
victories.</p><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Shawn McDonough won his first ever training crown by sending
out 54 winners on the season and also posted 33 driving victories. He was also
tops in money collected with $425,218. Gerry Sarama was second in the trainer's
standings with 33 while Jennifer Giuliani and Ryan Swift shared third place
honors with 31 each.</p><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">While enjoying the 'Trainer Of The Meet' award, McDonough
also celebrated his trainee Mugshots Bro who was named 'Trotter Of The Meet.'</p><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The 10-year-old Mugshots Bro (Jailhouse Jesse-Photo Emmy) is
co-owned by Herman Niedhammer and Herman Niedhammer Jr. Mugshots Bro
collected six wins, a second and a third place finish in 10 starts on the
season. He earned $48,845 and had a five-race wins streak with four of those
coming from outside posts.</p><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Stop Action was a model of consistency and determination
throughout the season and claimed the 'Pacer Of The Meet' award.</p><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Owned by Super Mile LLC and trained by Angelo Nappo, the
5-year-old gelded Stop Action (Somebeachsomewhere-The Show Returns, started the
campaign in the $5,500 level but steadily worked his way up the ladder and into
the Open competition.</p><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">In 18 starts, Stop Action finished in the money 16 times
including eight victories and bankrolled $69,595, the most of any horse at the
track. His seasonal best was 1:54.0 and was driven by Kevin Cummings through much
of the year.</p><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">There were eight track records broken during the season
including three all-age standards.</p><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The trotters saw two all-age marks fall by the wayside as Je
Suis Si Belle snapped the all-age filly time with a 1:56.1 which also was good
enough to re-write the 3-year-old filly barrier. Barn Hall established a new
record for the all-age and 4-year-old trotting horses with a 1:56.2.</p><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Gotthegreenlight made a name for herself by placing her
name in the record book with a 1:52.2 which eclipsed the all-age and 3-year-old
filly pacing marks. Vivians Dream broke the 2-year-old filly record with a
1:54.4 mile tour and American Fling erased the 2-year-old gelding record with a
1:55.1.</p><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Statistically, Buffalo Raceway's post time favorites
won at a 48.26 percent clip. </p><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><b>Monticello, N.Y. </b>– Fresh off his victory at the MGM
Messenger Stakes, the first leg of Harness Racing’s Triple Crown, <b>Pleaseletmeknow</b>
will highlight the glamour division when three-year-old pacing colts take the
stage at Monticello Raceway on <b>Monday, July 18</b>.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">In addition to his Messenger Stakes’ win, he’s also
triumphed in two New York Sire Stakes, along with a second-place finish, making
him the top point leader in his division. The three-year-old son of <b>American
Ideal</b> is trained by <b>Travis Alexander</b> and is owned by Fiddlers Creek
Stables LLC of Naples Florida. His 2022 resume is seven starts, with five wins.
He’s placed second twice, with seasonal earnings of $236,777 and a mark of
1:51.3. Regular pilot <b>Matt Kakaley</b> will drive him from Post Position
3. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Other contenders in the race include <b>Roll With The Flow</b>

at the helm. He was a winner last start out in an Excelsior event at Goshen in
1:53.2. <b>Seven Hundred</b> starts from Post 4 with <b>Jordan Stratton</b>
handling the driving chores. The $105,000 yearling purchase, son of <b>Huntsville</b>,
scored in NYSS action at Vernon Downs in 1:52.3.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The second heat, which is going for a purse of $60,300, is a
full field of eight sidewinders. <b>JD</b> scorched the Goshen oval in a track
record time of 1:52 last time out. The <b>Ray Schnittker</b> trainee is a son
of <b>So Surreal</b>. <b>Flip My Chip</b> comes into the race sporting a
two-race win streak. Last start, he won in 1:51.2 at Pocono Downs. <b>Marcus
Miller</b> will drive. <b>Twin B Deluxe</b> (PP3) won a Sire Stakes event
earlier this season at Saratoga in 1:53. <b>Jason Bartlett</b> will drive.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Also on tap are four Excelsior events racing for a purse of
