GeoD5/8 - Georgian Downs Announces Upper Canada Cup Activities

INNISFIL, ON – Georgian Downs will present the $600,000 (Guaranteed) Upper Canada Cup on Saturday May 26th.  The UCC has attracted a very solid group of equine athletes.

The celebrated sophomores will be racing for big–money and the race night will be loaded with complimentary high-class race events.

The evening will feature the historic annual Honourable Earl Rowe Memorial Cup, which honours the area’s former Lieutenant Governor and founder of Barrie Raceway.  Bruce Barbour, Executive Director of Racing Operations has promised a night that celebrates harness racing.  He emphasized “the focus” will be on the racetrack. “It will be a great night of racing on the Innisfil Oval”.

Spectators will know it is a special night when they are shuttled from the parking lot to the main entrance in an elegant landau carriage driven by a stunning team of Clydesdales.  The Canadian theme will continue with Mountie greeters and a facility festooned with red and white balloons and flowers.  The between-race entertainment will feature a host of crowd pleasing promotions which will include Money Machine Madness, where $1000 will be up for grabs, plus Georgian’s special version of trackside Deal-No-Deal.

Best of all, one lucky fan will go home with a Great Canadian Backyard Barbeque door prize.  A premium barbeque and a stylish patio suite.
