Huff, best known locally perhaps for her tireless work in the office of the Florida Standardbred Breeders And Owners Association (FSBOA) and as a member of the Florida Chapter of The United States Harness Writers' Association, ran her current training win streak to three in a row in the 2nd race of the Saturday evening, May 12 card at Pompano. Ruby's Jewell was kept mid-pack by driver Mickey McNichol and then brought up in time to topple his claiming trot foes I Like To Rhap with Andy Santeramo in tow and Happy Bee in rein to Joe Sanzeri. Huff conditions the Crown Can-Winbak Ruby gelding for owner Kim Gorshe of Plymouth, MI.
Rosie Huff's training win streak began on April 30 when State bred 3 year old filly trotter Feel The Haze made her season's debut a winning one, and followed that up with another flawless life's mark performance last Monday, May 7 again with Dan Clements in the bike for the ownership of Jake Huff of Pittston, PA and Stable 45 of Boynton Beach, FL. The daughter of Feel Like A Winner-Hazy Photo was the runner-up in last November's FSBOA 2 year old filly trot final, and she's looking like a division favorite in 2012 since Pinch Of Thyme from the Bruce Ranger barn hasn't yet made her debut. The season opening event in the FSBOA stakes is June 20.
Saturday evening's Isle Mile 1 Open Handicap Pace witnessed a multiple move winning effort by Talk To Tony and driver Andy Santeramo. After being stung off the gate in 26.2 by Waldy Jimmy driven by Dan Clements, Talk To Tony summoned another move in the stretch to edge out Prairie Jaguar partnered by Tom Sells and Waldy Jimmy in 1:53.1. Talk To Tony has now half of his 14 starts in Florida in 2012 for over $37,000. The Artiscape-Muggins Hanover 5 year old ridgling races from the Kim and Jay Sears Stable. Onwership is split between Jay Sears and John Campagnuolo of Loxahatchee, FL.
Three year old pacer Keemosabe was extra impressive in taking a life's mark of 1:52.4 under wraps on the May 12 card in a $6,500 purse conditioned test over older rivals. The Squaw's Fella-Bolera Athena colt is owned by Jerry Glantz of Delray Beach, FL and his full potential appears to be far from known after this romp over established local veterans Grandstand Hitter driven by Walter Ross Jr. and Northern Companion with Robert Hoffman in the bike. Keemosabe races from the Stewart Nemiro-Bruce Ranger barn with Bruce Ranger handling the race bike duties.
