Diva
Las Vegas is a 3-year-old daughter of Hi Ho Silverheel’s and the Little Steven
mare Prettylittlerebel, who is owned by Denise Maier and Wayne Knittel, is
conditioned by Maier and will have Steve Wiseman handling the lines. She is seeking her third stakes tally.
Sent
off the 3-5 favorite in the most recent big-money dance two weeks ago, Diva Las
Vegas did not disappoint her many backers.
Wiseman had her in a stalking position through the opening half,
attacked the leader turning for home and then drew off through the
stretch. She came her final quarter in
:27.3 en route to setting a new career standard with the 1:56.3 final clocking.
Stable-mate
Little Anna Mae earned the runner-up honors that night and gives the Maier barn
another big look at the outcome. The
homebred daughter of Little Steven carries the banner of her trainer, Eileen
Brodbar and Alan Kirschenbaum, with Tim Maier handling the lines.
Little
Anna Mae earned her graduation papers in her first start of the season on March
23, waltzing home with four lengths to spare in a 1:58.1 performance with
Maier. She was fourth in the first
stakes match-up of 2012 and came home nicely to complete the exacta behind her
barn-mate in that last stakes get-together.
Completing
the field are Drawing Dead with Luke Plano; Twentyone Guns, to be guided by
Scott Cisco; On The Way Home for James Kennedy; and La Madawna De Rosa with Lemoyne
Svendsen. Meanwhile, Silverlode faces just one rival in
California Crush in the trotting stakes, which goes as a non-betting affair.

Our
apologies to Roy Moorefield, who was inadvertently left out of last week’s
article on the outstanding racehorse and stallion Hi Ho Silverheel’s. Roy purchased the son of Walton Hanover for
$1,865 as a yearling and he went on to win over $1.2 million with a 1:49.4 mark
while campaigning for Moorefield and trainer Milan Smith.
