YR - YONKERS FOGGED IN, BUT SHOW GOES ON

BY FRANK DRUCKER, Publicity Director, Empire City @ Yonkers Raceway

YONKERS, NY, Tuesday, May 15, 2012—Sulkies with fog lights would have been in high demand Tuesday night, with Yonkers Raceway shrouded in a heavy mist through much of the 11-race card.

Despite Mother Nature's intervention--which made life shall we say "interesting" for track announcer John Hernan and track photographer Mike Lizzi, among others--some seemed to covet the camouflage.

Jason Bartlett won four races, including both halves of the $58 early daily double (his open-length win with Domitian Hanover later in the card is the accompanying photo).

"It was a bit tough, but we could see everyone else around us," Bartlett said. "That wasn't an issue, but some of those pylons came up in a hurry."

The Raceway's five-night-per-week (Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday/Saturday) live schedule continues. First post for all programs remains at 7:10 PM.  Evening simulcasting accompanies all live programs, with afternoon simulcasting (including Saturday’s Preakness Stakes card from Pimlico) available around the NYRA schedule.
