YONKERS, NY, Friday, May 18, 2012—Yonkers Raceway plays host to its first New York Sire Stakes event of the season Monday night, with the $339,040 Hugh Grant Pace for 3-year-old colts and geldings.

Five divisions--races 4 though 7 and 11--highlight the 12-race program, with usual first post at 7:10 PM.

Monday night's first ($66,848) sire stakes encounter finds the seasonal parimutuel debut of 2011's statebred champ, Heston Blue Chip (Tim Tetrick, post 4). The American Ideal colt won 11-of-13 races and $375,650 as a frosh, ending his season with a win in the $177,275 final of Dover's Matron.

Linda Toscano trains for owner Ken Jacobs.

The second ($68,048) NYSS division includes Forever Just (Tetrick, post 1), a down-the-road NYSS winner at Buffalo earlier this month. The son of Bettor's Delight, also trained by Toscano (for co-owners Stake Your Claim Stable and Fred Wallace), has won half of his 16 career starts and more than $212,000.

Domethatagain (post 6) attracts Dan Noble for his loca1 driving debut after a second-place finish in a Buffalo sire-stakes event.

The third ($68,048) Grant grouping features the formful Breakin' the Law (Dave Miller, post 1), who has won his last five races at the Meadowlands, including a life-best 1:50.3 in the $59,200 final of the Survivor Series. The Artiscape gelding is co-owned (as Burke Racing) by (trainer) Ron Burke, Weaver Bruscemi, JJK Stables and Panhellenic Stable.

Union Man Hanover (Tetrick, post 4) banked more than $102,000 a season ago.

The penultimate ($68,048) sire stakes division is led by Escape the News (Miller, post 3), he of the $232,000 frosh season. The homebred (Brittany Farms and Val D'Or Farms) Artiscape gelding took a mark of 1:50.3 at the Red Mile last fall.

The evening's final ($68,048) event includes Steelhead Hanover (Morrill Jr., post 2), a blowout NYSS winner at Buffalo after a $147,000 freshman season.

Lawgiver Hanover (George Brennan, post 4), also a Buffalo sire stakes winner and a six-figure performer as a frosh, while Coral Snake (Sears, post 1), unraced at 2, was a snappy 1:53.2 debuting winner here this past Tuesday night.

The Raceway's five-night-per-week (Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday/Saturday) live schedule continues. First post for all programs remains at 7:10 PM.  Evening simulcasting accompanies all live programs, with afternoon simulcasting (including Saturday’s Preakness Stakes card from Pimlico) available around the NYRA schedule.
