Ppk5/8 - Marquee Older Performers Entered At Pompano

In addition to the appearances of three year olds getting their early racing done in 2012, some of the winter trained marquee older performers are also returning to the racing wars for their first starts of the year at The Isle Casino Racing Pompano Park.

Joining the cast of the $12,000 Open Handicap Trot on the Wednesday, March 7 program is one of the continent's better known trotting mares, Mystical Starlight. She hasn't raced since December 2 of last year and will start from post five in her first test of her 7 year old campaign against a half dozen rivals including the track's regular weekly hard hitters including Scorpion Moon, Jaavos Boy and Gale Warning in South Florida's top trotting class.

Originally developed in Ontario by Matt Dupuis and Darren McCall, the daughter of Credit Winner-Miss Lovely is coming off a highly productive campaign in 2011 in which she banked over $201,000 and earned her speed badge of 1:53.4 at The Meadows. Mystical Starlight is still the older mares track record holder at Grand River Raceway in Ontario and in recent years, training duties have been handled in the United States by Ross Croghan and Jeff Webster for the career winner of $449,532 owned by Glen Hobin of Stittsville, ON.
