NAADA - NAADA 3-TRACK TROTTING SERIES AT MONTICELLO, YONKERS, AND FREEHOLD RACEWAY STARTS MARCH 29

NAADA  3-TRACK TROTTING SERIES AT MONTICELLO, YONKERS, AND  FREEHOLD RACEWAY STARTS MARCH 29

The North American Amateur Drivers Association will begin its Spring Trotting Series on Thursday, March 29th with three racetracks involved. Besides the usual participants-- Yonkers and Monticello Raceways--Freehold Raceway joins the fray this year.

NAADA President Joe Faraldo
“Since Freehold is short of horses with so many neighboring tracks opening, we included the New Jersey track in our series this year,” noted Joe Faraldo, president of NAADA. “It will be our pleasure to add Freehold which has always been supportive of amateur racing over the years.”

A criterion of conditions for A and P drivers affect the eligibles but once the series kicks-off the highly competitive races will be held on consecutive Thursdays and will culminate in a $12,000 Series Final at Yonkers Raceway on Thursday, May 17.

NAADA amateur drivers,  competing reins men/women,  will earn points--by the European Point System-- depending upon their finishes in each contest and at series-end those tops in points will earn a berth in the Final. The next tier in points will be eligible to race in the Consolation.

“Drivers must and always do conduct themselves in a gentlemanly manner and considering  that we are being afforded a place to race for purse money and are guests of the racetracks, we are thankful for these opportunities to race", said Joe Faraldo, president of NAADA. “ A driver must have started at least twice in the series to gain a preference  to race in the final and all participants are urged  to enter the final regardless of the number of starts they may have had in the series. That is to insure that we have a full field".

A $50 starting fee will be assessed for drivers competing in the preliminary races while those in the Consolation will pay $75 to start. A $100 fee is due from drivers who will compete in the Final.

“As a result of the cooperation of the participating racetracks managements we will once again get the opportunity to have amateurs compete at these venues and we use the money generated from the participants to help a worthwhile charitable cause,” Faraldo added.

“In the past  these events raised money for the Richard Ingrassia Memorial Fund and  last year a $ 5,000 check was donated  to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. NAADA is pleased to foster the goals of amateur racing and support worthwhile charities in the process.”

The series is open to paid-up members of the North American Amateur Drivers Association only.  The membership cost to join in NAADA is $150 and anyone with the appropriate license can call or e-mail faral@thorn.net for an application.

For further information, or to become a member of NAADA, applicants are urged to contact Joe Faraldo C/o NAADA the old fashioned way via snail mail at 125-10 Queens Blvd, Kew Gardens, NY 11415. Or call Joe  at 718-544-6800 if you are one of those who do not have e-mail access.
