M1 - Fountainbleau Volo Crushes Foes In Horse & Groom Final

Fountainbleau Volo completed a sweep of the Horse & Groom Series with a dominant five-length win in the $82,000 final on Friday night at the Meadowlands Racetrack.

Driver David Miller sat patiently in fourth with the 4-5 favorite as Here Comes Numbers took the field to the half in 56:1.  Miller unleashed Fountainbleau Volo on the final turn and he easily charged past the leader to a stakes record 1:52.2 score.  Cameron Chip rallied between horses to finish second, while Definitely Mamie rallied from the far outside for third.

Fountainbleau Volo paid $3.80 as he posted his fourth straight win for trainer Jeff Dauplaise.  Dauplaise and partner Mendy Taffel purchased the 4-year-old SJ’s Caviar gelding privately last fall while he was racing at Yonkers.  Fountainbleau Volo surpassed $150,000 in career earnings with his Horse & Groom hat trick.  He now has 11 wins in 23 career starts.

Bob Key’s Miss Chip K did not disappoint either as the favorite in the $37,000 Syrinx Hanover final.  She tipped three-wide on the final turn and rallied to a 1:58.2 victory in rein to Brian Sears.  It was a half-length back to the pocket-sitting Feegee, while Touch Of Charm held third after cutting the middle fractions.  Charlie Norris trains Miss Chip K, a 3-year-old daughter of Chip Chip Hooray.  She posted her second win in 12 career starts.
