MR - 12TH ANNUAL ST. PADDY PACE SET TO GO TO POST ON THURS. MARCH 15

Post positions and driving assignments have been chosen today for Monticello Raceway’s 12^th Annual St. Paddy Pace, the race which features the talents of drivers of Irish heritage.

Slated as race number six on the Thursday, March 15^th card, the St. Paddy Pace will be the second leg of the Mighty M’s Heritage Drivers Series.

“St Patrick’s Day is on a Saturday this year and since we don’t race on Saturdays we scheduled our St. Paddy Pace as close as possible to the day of the wearing of the green,” noted Eric Warner, the track’s Director of Racing. “The race will go to post on Thursday, the last day of the week in which we race.”

Of the eight participants only Jimmy Marohn, Jr. (2009), John McDermott (2005); and Mike Doherty (2001) are previous winners. Others with a mount in this year’s  event include; Jimmy Taggart, Jr.,  Rick Harp, Sean MacAleese,  Truman Gale, and Cory Stratton. Besides the purse percentage the winning driver will  also receive a bottle of Bailey’s Irish Cream.

Following the St. Paddy Pace the next leg of the Heritage  Drivers  Series will be on Thursday, April 12. On that date drivers of Jewish extraction will convene here for the 14^th edition of the Passover Pace.
