Lon - Victors To Defend Titles In London’s Signature Events

LONDON, Ontario . . . Foiled Again, last year’s Molson Pace champion and Voelz Hanover, the victor in the 2011 edition of the Forest City Pace, have both been nominated for the 2012 editions of the signature races at The Raceway at Western Fair District.

A total of 32 top male pacers have been kept eligible for the $300,000 Molson Pace which goes to post with eliminations on May 18 and the final on May 25.

Foiled Again, the top pacing horse in all of North America last season, will be making his fourth straight appearance in The Raceway’s longest running stake event should Ron Burke send his stable star to London once more.

  The first time Foiled Again competed in the Molson Pace, in 2009, he won his elimination and faced traffic trouble in the final and was fifth. The following year he was a close second in both his elimination and the final (to stablemate Won The West). Last year he broke through and was a dominant three length victor in both his elimination and the final.

A winner of more than $3.4 million in his career, at age seven last year Foiled Again became the oldest horse to notch a million dollar winning season. He is owned by trainer Ron Burke, Weaver Bruscemi and JJK Stables.

Four other talented performers who competed in last year’s final, Art Professor, Atochia, Valentino and Aracache Hanover, have also been nominated as well as newcomers Betterthancheddar, We Will See and Up The Credit.

Last year Voelz Hanover was victorious in the Forest City Final, the distaff companion race to the Molson Pace, when she upset the defending champion Dreamfair Eternal. Both mares have been kept eligible, along with 33 of their contemporaries, for this year’s race which carries a $200,000 final purse for the first time.

Interestingly, the top six finishers in last year’s Forest City Final: Voelz Hanover, Chancey Lady, Dreamfair Eternal, Ticket To Rock, Warrawee Koine and Ginger And Fred, have all been kept eligible for 2012.

Additions this year include last year’s Breeders Crown champion Monkey On My Wheel, as well as other top sophomore performers from last year including Idyllic, Modern Connection, Myluvmylife, Rocklamation, Strike An Attitude and Swinging Beauty.

The date for this year’s Forest City eliminations is Friday, November 9 with the final the following Saturday, November 17.
