Lon - Wagering Numbers Remain Strong at Western Fair District

London, April 12, 2012 -- The start of the 2012 racing season at The Raceway at The Western Fair District has seen wagering levels soar over the 2011 numbers.

After recording double-digit percentage gains in January and February, wagering at the London oval was up significantly again in March. The overall handle was up 12% from the same month last year, while wagering on live racing saw a bump of 7% and wagering on the Western Fair District product from remote locations increased by 12.5%.

That momentum has carried over into the first half of April as well. On Monday, April 2nd, the largest handle of the 2011/2012 season was recorded when customers pushed $422,403 through the windows – that marked a 46% gain over the same program a year ago.

So far in April, total wagering is up 30.5% over last year. Live wagering is up a healthy 11% with remote wagering increasing by 32% over 2011 totals.

“We are very happy to see the momentum continue,” said Racing and Gaming Manager Ian Fleming. “We’ve tried to be responsive to customer demand and will continue to do so. We’re hoping to have a strong final month and a half leading up to Molson Pace Night.”

This year’s Molson Pace program will be held on Friday, May 25 with many exciting plans in the works. For more details, or to download your past performance pages and view live streaming video, visit www.westernfairdistrict.com.
