Calx1 - Putoneonnetformom Attempts An Encore On Friday At Cal Expo

Putoneonnetformom, who posted a romping score last week when several of his rivals made miscues, gets the marquee treatment at Cal Expo in Friday night’s (April 20) featured $4,500 Winners-over Trot.

An 8-year-old homebred son of the popular Trot For Joy out of the Armbro Goal mare Light The Lamp, Putoneonnetformom campaigns for Jeff, Gerald and Diana Cimini with Rocky Stidham training and James Kennedy in his usual spot in the sulky.  They will do their work from the assigned outside post.

On the season, the hard-hitting veteran has returned to greet his connections in the winner’s circle after four of his 11 appearances, with a like number of runner-up finishes and three thirds.  He has $140,000 in the bank and set his 1:57.2 career standard over the Cal Expo layout last year.

Putoneonnetformom followed Franks Best home in four straight outings between February 25 and April 6, but with that one headed east, he was a punctual 3-5 favorite in last week’s trip to the post.  He buzzed right to the front for Kennedy, widened the advantage to a dozen lengths on the final bend and came home with nine and a quarter to spare over the “good” racetrack.

He will be joined in the cast by stable-mate Shelby County, who is owned and was bred by Ben Kenney with trainer Stidham handling the reins.  The 5-year-old Chip Chip Hooray mare lost all chance with an early break last week, but has four scores to her credit this season, including a 1:57.1 lifetime-best tour.

Shelby County recorded her most recent tally on March 16, making every pole a winning one that evening over a sloppy racetrack.  She’s gone off-stride in her last two starts, but a mistake-free mile obviously makes her a major player with this group.

Completing the field are Meringue, who will have the services of Luke Plano; Broadway Victory for owner/driver/trainer John McKeon; and Giles L S Hanover with Steve Wiseman giving directions.

Live racing resumes at Cal Expo on Friday (April 20) & Saturday (April 21) at 6:00 p.m. (PST).  On every live card, Cal Expo offers free parking & free admission after 4:30 p.m.   On Friday, Cal Expo offers Happy Hour from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on which Beer; Well Drinks & Wine are offered at $4 each, while a Burger with fries is offered at $5.

Cal Expo currently offers a reduced 15 percent takeout rate on all Pick 4’s.  Additionally, all Late Pick 4’s now come with an increased $20,000-guaranteed gross pool.  Also, the Friday Late Pick 4 will offer a 0% takeout on all winning wagers made on track or at Twinspires.com, while the Saturday Late Pick 4 will be broadcast on TVG.
