Miller
steered Breakin The Law to his fifth straight win and a career best 1:50.3
clocking in the $59,200 final for 3-year-old pacers, the first race of the evening.
Although Breakin The Law gapped cover and appeared to be struggling on the
final turn, he soared off brisk fractions to a 2 1-2-length tally. One
Through Ten and Winter Night finished second and third, respectively.
Breakin The Law is now eight-for-10 on the season. Ron Burke trains the
gelded son of Artiscape-Arl’s Troublemaker for his father Mickey’s Burke Racing
Stable, Weaver Bruscemi, Jjk Stables and The Panhellenic Stable Corp.
Miller
completed a $4.20 double with Hambletonian eligible Top Billing in the $58,650
final for sophomore trotters, race two. Top Billing sat well off a
lukewarm pace, took a short lead entering the top of the stretch and drew off
to a 3 3-4-length victory in 1:55.1. Not Afraid finished second after
setting the tempo, while Top Billing’s stablemate, Trouble, was another two
lengths behind in third.
Top Billing,
trained by Julie Miller, is now perfect in three career starts. A $22,000
yearling purchase at Harrisburg ,
the son of Andover Hall-Ny Starlet was unraced as a two-year-old mainly due to
health issues. Top Billing is owned by brothers Jason and Doug Allen,
whose family campaigned world champion Fool’s Goal with Bruce McElven.
The
Meadowlands is dark next weekend, April 27-28. Live racing resumes
