After Gone Baby Gone and Zeke Parker settled on the lead on
the first turn Stratton moved his charge to the front and they raced
one-two to the wire. Gone Baby Gone held second place while Game Jocko
and Jimmy Taggart, Jr. finished third.
With his victory Eagle Now upped his lifetime earnings to

notched his sixth seasonal victory when Mike Merton reined the 9 year old
Jate Lobell gelding to a 1:59.2 triumph. With his driving victory Mike
Merton is now just 22 wins from 2000 career victories.
“When we got collared on the final turn I though Zeke ( with
Star Power) was going by us but ole Tommy dug in and he paced away and
went on to win it,” Merton related. “He’s a gritty old guy and ain’t he
pretty?
