MR - EAGLE NOW AGAIN COPS THE PACING FEATURE; “PRETTY BOY” WINS AGAIN

Before Eagle Now came to Monticello Raceway on April 17 the pacer was 0 for 9. But that changed in a hurry when Jordan Stratton drove the 7-year-old Dragon Again gelding to a neck triumph in a time of 1:56.2.  Then on April 24th Eagle Now made it two for two at the Mighty M again with Jordan Stratton at the controls when “the Kid” guided him to a wire to wire triumph in a 1:58.4 clocking again against the best pacers on the grounds.

After Gone Baby Gone and Zeke Parker settled on the lead on the first turn Stratton  moved his charge to the front and they raced one-two  to the wire. Gone Baby Gone held second place while Game Jocko and Jimmy Taggart, Jr. finished third.

With his victory Eagle Now upped his lifetime earnings to over $425,500.Owned by Lowell Schoonmaker of Middletown, NY  and trained by Dennis Laterza  the  pacer returned  a $3.40 win mutual.

Fans of  grey horses always love when “Pretty Boy” Four Star Tommy is on the race track the 9-year-old grey—now almost white—pacer notched his sixth seasonal victory when Mike Merton  reined the 9 year old Jate Lobell gelding  to a 1:59.2 triumph. With his driving victory Mike Merton is now just 22 wins from  2000 career  victories.

“When we got collared on the final turn I though Zeke ( with Star Power) was going by us but ole Tommy dug in and he paced away  and went on to  win it,” Merton related. “He’s a gritty old guy and ain’t he pretty?

Owned by Ruth Ingram of Bloomsburg, Pa and Clint Crelin of Port Jervis, NY “Pretty Boy” paid $15.80 for win.
