Nfld - Northfield Barn Notes

STAHL LEADS DRIVER STANDINGS

Ryan Stahl has emerged at the top of the 2012 Driver Standings after stellar performances the last two Fridays. Each Friday night, Stahl won six of the twelve races, placing him sixteen wins ahead of Tyler Smith.  Stahl has garnered 131 victories this season, outdistancing Smith (115), Aaron Merriman (77), Kurt Sugg (74) and JD Wengerd (60).  Stahl has never won the Northfield driving title but has been the runner-up, most recently in 2011. His win tally for 2012 currently ranks him 17th nationally. Ryan has 2,808 career wins with driver purse earnings in excess of $8,500,000.

Kevin Ehrhardt holds a slim lead in the 2012 Trainer Standings.  Ehrhardt has conditioned 23 winners and holds a slim lead over Jim Otto, who has 21. Calvin Hollar (19), Darrell Rideout (18) and Don Pfister (17) complete the top five. 


BURKE TRAINS FIVE FILLIES STAKED TO THE COURAGEOUS LADY

The ($90,000 est.) Courageous Lady goes postward this Saturday evening, April 28.  The race is an open stakes event for North America’s top three-year-old-filly pacers and is the first national stake of 2012.  Ronald Burke trains five of the 22 fillies nominated to the Courageous Lady. 

Babe Per View has not raced this year but does have two qualifiers under her belt, one being a 1:55.2 winning effort on April 6 at The Meadows.  The Perretti Racing Stable owns Babe Per View, a daughter of Rocknroll Hanover.  Last season, she hit the board six times, winning one of nine starts and earning $29,543.        

Darena Hanover was a four-time winner last year in thirteen starts.  This daughter of Yankee Cruiser took her mark at The Meadows in 1:53.3 and earned $98,714.  She is owned by Burke Racing Stable and shows one qualifying effort this season, a 1:55.2 winning effort on April 13 at The Meadows.

Destiny’s Chance is a daughter of Four Starzzz Shark and won seven of twelve races last year, taking a 1:52 mark at The Red Mile and bankrolling $287,098.  She is owned by Randy Ringer and shows one qualifier this season, a 1:57.2 win on April 13 at The Meadows. 

Frontierpan made her first start of the year on April 13, finishing third and race-timed in 1:53.1 at The Meadows.  Frontierpan is owned by Peter Pan Stables of nearby Pepper Pike, Ohio.  Her two-year-old season consisted of fourteen starts, of which she won five.  This daughter of No Pan Intended has earnings of $136,938 and a lifetime mark of 1:53.3 at Harrah’s Chester.

That’s My Girl G is owned by the partnership of Burke Racing Stable, M1 Stable, Weaver Bruscemi and Phillip Collura.  This daughter of Mcardle has one win and $28, 569 in earnings in fifteen lifetime starts. She took her mark of 1:56.1 at The Meadows.
