NFLD - SUGG REACHES 2,000 CAREER WINS

Kurt Sugg scored the 2,000th win of his driving career while driving RUA Looker in Northfield Park’s 12th race on Tuesday evening.  They went off as the 2/5 betting choice and took the lead right off the gate.  The pair never had an anxious moment at any point in the mile and won by 1¼ length, stopping the clock in 2:01.4.  Sugg also co-owns and trains the ten-year-old son of Ilookelikemymom.  This win marks the 6th victory of 2012 and the 49th career victory for RUA Looker.

Sugg’s richest win came in 2006 when he drove Dunkster to victory in the $105,000 Dygert at Hawthorne.  Kurt’s fastest win was timed in 1:52.1 aboard Gordie How at The Delaware County Fair.

The 42-year-old Sugg remembers his first win behind Mountain Director at the Hancock County Fair in Findlay, Ohio when he was a mere 16-years old.  He started driving in 1986, and the 2,000th win increased his driver purse earnings to in excess of $8,000,000.

After just missing in two other races on the evening, Kurt commented: “I am really happy to have reached 2,000 wins, and it feels really good to have done it with my own horse.”
