MR - BILLY DOBSON HAS A FOUR BAGGER ON TUESDAY, JAN. 3---ONE WINNER PAYS $105.20

In late September, 2008  24 year old Billy Dobson  ventured from Michigan to Monticello Raceway and even though he came without any horses it didn’t  take  much time for the youngster’s talent to be recognized by the local training colony. Though he started slowly he finished the 2008 campaign at the Mighty M with 62 winners and has been winning consistently ever since.

The following year Dobson started at the Mighty M before branching out and at season’s end he reined   290 winners. During 2010 the man in blue and white colors upped his total to 390 and last year, mostly at Saratoga Raceway, Dobson finished with 407 winners  which placed him in the top 20 in races won in North America during 2011.

Once again opening the season here at the Mighty M Dobson continued his winning ways reining four winners on the Tuesday, January 3rd card including a 1:57.3 triumph with Vincent Lorenzo’s  Kid Carson in the winners over pacing feature.

In that contest Dobson gunned the 6 year old Western Paradise stallion to the lead from the three-hole and made every pole a winning on en route to a two-length triumph over Southbound Trucker and driver Greg Merton.

But Dobson pulled a shocker in the fourth race on the card  with Prince of Desire. After starting from the seven- hole  and then settling in at the back of the field Dobson took advantage of the quick early pace before moving  his pacer as the pacers  headed up the backstretch. Once Dobson moved Prince Of Desire three- deep the Real Desire 5-year-old gelding circled the leaders and drew off to a four-length victory in a 2:00.4 clocking. Although  appearing that he  was much the best in the race  the only thing wrong with that assessment was the fact the Prince of Players was dismissed by the betting public and sent off at odds of 50-1 which produced a  whopping $105.20 win pay off.

Prince of  Desire is owned by Boyer, Donovan, Winske and the Mansion Ridge Stable.

Dobson also won the first race with George Bourloukos’ Speakin Greek in a 2:01 clocking and he copped the third with Hale Storm Stable’s , Glen B  in 2:00.
