Lon - Fred Sadler Passes

Fred Sadler, a well known and successful horseman in Southwestern Ontario passed away today at the Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital. He was 70.

Fred was a fixture at The Raceway at Western Fair District for many years and was one of the track’s top drivers for several seasons. He was named Driver of the Year at the London half-miler in 1984 and 1993.

In total he recorded 2,036 victories in his driving career for $2.9 million in earnings.

Sadler remained involved in racing as an owner with Larjon Barty being one of his recent winners, with six wins last season and just over $81,000 in earnings for his career. The now five-year-old is trained by Sadler’s son Alan.
