CalX1 - Bewareofthisaffair Revels In The Goo At Cal Expo

Thursday, January 26, 2012 - by Mark Ratzky, Publicity -- Cal Expo

Bewareofthisaffair got an overdue trip to the charmed enclosure when she upset at Cal Expo in last Friday night’s (January 20) opener over a sloppy track for owner/breeder Wendi Weiner, trainer Nathalie Tremblay and regular pilot James Kennedy.

Last year was a lean one as far as wins were concerned for Bewareofthisaffair, with just a lone victory to go with 10 second and third-place finishes, but she got the job last time when the conditions were less than ideal.

“She loves an off track,” Weiner informed.  “If you recall, she won the Kaycees Doll last year in the slop.  She takes after her mother Sanananna and her brother Cold Affair, who were huge mudders.  I raise my babies outside for the most part, and they all seem to love it when it rains and head for the first mud puddle they can find.”

In last week’s score, Kennedy made what proved to be the winning move with Bewareofthisaffair at the quarter, taking the lead for good at that point and showing the way home by a length Scooter Babe.

“I have to thank Nat and Dave and Stretchy and Chuck, and special thanks to James who knows her like his own and treats her the best,” Wendi said.  “James fits her like a glove, and I can’t thank everyone enough for taking care of my girl.”

The dark-hued daughter of Hi Ho Silverheels is affectionately known as BB Bug and has her own fan club.

“She has a group we call her Aunties and they’ve watched her since she was born on my live web cam,” Wendi explained.  “If you listened close Friday night, you could hear the cheers from all across the country.”
