Tgdn5/8 - CAMELS, OSTRICHES AND PIGS OH MY AT TIOGA DOWNS THIS WEEKEND

Animals other than horses to cross finish line at Tioga Downs


NICHOLS, NY – For the first time, animals other than horses will cross the finish line at Tioga Downs this weekend.

Camel and ostrich racing makes its debut Saturday night during live racing.  The ostrich race will take place following the second race (7:15 pm) and the camel race will take place after the sixth race (8:35 pm).

Tioga Downs Vice President of Racing Jason Settlemoir will ride one of the camels against three professional camel riders.

Pig races are scheduled for Sunday during a special Father’s Day of racing. Racing starts at 1:30 pm with pig races throughout the afternoon.

Admission to Tioga Downs is free.

Tioga Downs is also offering Hot Dog Weekend featuring $1 hot dogs both Saturday and Sunday with a special toppings bar and the first ever Hot Dog Eating Contest on Saturday night.
