pacesetter, K irk Gimenez of SNY, in
the nick of time. Malusis earned $5,000
for his charity of choice, PK D
Foundation. Gimenez, who raced for MDA, and fellow competitors Don LaGreca of
ESPN-NY 98.7 FM’s “The Michael K ay
Show” (American Heart Association) and Dyrol Joyner of PIX11 (Sean K imerling
Testicular Cancer Foundation) each earned $1,000 for their charities.
The Broadcasters Charity Race was a two-day event that put top sportscasters in the sulky for the first time to compete for $17,000 in charitable donations. The exhibition events were held between the live harness races on Friday and Saturday night at the Meadowlands. Meadowlands oddsmaker and TVG commentator Darin Zoccali won the first heat and $5,000 for his charity of choice, the James Cancer Fund. Also earning funds for their charities in the first heat were:
