Murmur Hanover made a break, scattering the back field turning for home. Wheeling N Dealin and Royalty For Life battled well ahead of the rest of the field. Wheeling N Dealin had a little more left and held onto the lead to win the two-year-old colt trot elim in 1:55.1 (:27.3).

Royalty For Life was second, Your So Vain was third and Caveat Emptor finished fourth.

Pine Credit, Show Ticket, Its Payday Friday and Majestized also proceed into the final. Major Athens and Dontyouforgetit received byes.

Wheeling N Dealin ($3.90) is by Cantab Hall, out of the mare Quick Credit by Credit Winner. He is owned by Ecurie Synergie and trained by Dustin Jones, the team that won a surprise Breeders Crown in 2010 with Martiniontherocks. Sylvain Filion was in the bike.

“My heart was pounding pretty good when he was coming down the stretch. We were thinking of going to Lexington, but sometimes when you take horses to Lexington and back they get sick, so we took the cautious route,” Jones said.

As the winner of the single elim, Jones chose post three for Wheeling N Dealin.
