Intimidate Lives Up To His Name in Breeders Crown Elim

By Frank and Ray Cotolo

The supplemented Intimidate charged down the center of the track and caught heavy favorite Market Share to upset in the second three-year-old colt trot Breeders Crown elimination in 1:53.1 at Woodbine on Saturday.

Knows Nothing took the lead, with Appomattox in second, Archangel wide in third and Market Share carried wider in fourth.

Archangel found room and applied pressure to Knows Nothing at the quarter in :27.2. Market Share tucked into fourth heading into the backstretch as Archangel cleared the top entering the backstretch. No moves were made at the half in :56.2 (:29).

Market Share came first over heading into the far turn. Guccio attempted to pick up his cover from fifth and Intimidate came third over.

Market Share trotted up to Archangel’s wheels at three-quarters in 1:25.1 (:28.4). Down the stretch, Market Share took the lead from a fading Archangel. Intimidate came off cover and was flying down the center of the track.

Guccio was rallying, with Knows Nothing and Another Amaretto making chase. They were too far behind to catch Market Share or the fast-closing Intimidate. At the wire, Intimidate got up in time to win.

Market Share was second, Knows Nothing was third, Another Amaretto was fourth and Guccio finished fifth.

Intimidate ($25.10) is by Justice Hall, out of the mare Fabulous Tag by Tagliabue. He is owned by Judith Farrow and Luc Blais, trained by Luc Blais and Sylvain Filion did the driving.

“He’s a nice colt, he’s been pretty handy his last two or three starts and this start he was supplemented into the Breeders Crown and it turned out well, driver Sylvain Filion said. “I saw Timmy [Tetrich] three wide [with Market Share] into the first turn. So turning for home, I knew I had a slight chance of catching him. My horse kicked into gear and he was super.”
