Little Brown Fox Romps in Soph-Colt-Trot Breeders Crown Elimination

By Frank and Ray Cotolo

Little Brown Fox sprinted away from the field and won by 7 lengths in the first three-year-old colt trot Breeders Crown elimination, timed in 1:53 at Woodbine on Saturday.

Little Brown Fox took the lead past the quarter in :27.4, with Lightning Storm in second and Mr Chicago in third. No  move was made at the :57 half (:29.1).

Prestidigitator pulled the pocket from fourth heading into the far turn, but Little Brown Fox started to draw away and had an 8-length lead at three-quarters in 1:24.1 (:27.1).

Little Brown Fox had 12 lengths on his foes turning for home. Prestidigitator trotted into second and Mr Chicago was squeezing by rivals to get up for third.

Effortless from the engine ride, Little Brown Fox got to the wire in time to win by 7 lengths in 1:53 (:28.4).

Prestidigitator finished second, Mr Chicago was third, Solvato was fourth and Stormin Normand finished fifth.  Modern Family and Lightning Storm were eliminated.

Little Brown Fox ($3.50) is by Muscles Yankee, out of the mare Malvictorian by Malabar Man. Christina Takter, John and Jim Fielding and Brittany Farms own him. He is trained by Jimmy Takter and Yannick Gingras was in the sulky.

“I figured if they were going to catch me, they’d have to work for it. My horse was good tonight and I don’t think he can come into the final any better,” driver Yannick Gingras said.

The connections will choose a post position for the final.
