MR - FOUR- IN- A- ROW FOR NEWLY CLAIMED, HOT PISTOL

The lightly raced and vastly improved Hot Pistol scored his fourth consecutive victory at Monticello Raceway on Tuesday afternoon, February 21 when Jimmy Marohn, Jr. guided the 5 year old  altered son of Incredible Finale to a lifetime best of 1:56.3.

In his last outing Hot Pistol was claimed  by Antonio and Maria Grillo  from Jody Weidman and George Mathar for $5000.  With three wins in a row already under his belt Hot Pistol zoomed to a lifetime best of 1:58.3 with Jimmy Marohn. Jr. in the bike.

“I liked the way this horse was racing and he appeared to be a sound horse so I made a claim for him,” Grillo noted after his newly purchased pacer again reached the winners circle . “I took him out of the claimers today and he still went a real good race.”

After coasting along in fourth place in the early going, Marohn who had driven Hot Pistol for his previous owners, moved the pacer with cover  at the half which was paced in :58 seconds. At the third stanza Hot Pistol was a neck and neck with his previous cover, Triple the Money, driven by Mike Forte. But at the top of the stretch Hot Pistol cleared and rambled home a four length winner over CA Maurader and driver Greg Merton. Triple The Money faded and finished third.

Thus far this year Hot Pistol  has four wins and a second in five starts. His win total this season is already double the amount he had in 2011. As a   4-year old the pacer had two wins, two seconds and two thirds and earned just $8588. Already Hot Pistol has bankrolled  $7700 in just five starts this year.
