Pierce and Blatantly Good ($7) launched their attack before
the half and battled Golden Receiver, winner of his last six outs, into the
lane. They cleared their rival in the final eighth and drew off to a
two-length tally in 1:50.2. Blatantly Good, trained by P.J. Fraley,
posted his second win in six starts this season.
Pierce swept the early double with Grams Legacy ($3.60) and
Arts Ideal Hanover ($2.80) for the Jimmy Takter stable. The Hall of Famer
also picked up wins with Freddy Day Hanover ($11) in the seventh race and
Abelard Hanover
($4.80) in the thirteenth.
