Every Valentine’s Day since 2004 Monticello Raceway has had
a race for women drivers called the Lady Godiva Pace. But this year Valentine’s
Day came and went at the Mighty M and there was no Lady Godiva Pace, a
race strictly for women drivers.
However, the lady drivers race, which is a part of the
track’s annual Heritage Drivers Series , has been rescheduled for Monday, May
14th.
“Due to circumstances beyond our control we had to postpone
our 9th annual Lady Godiva Pace, which was slated for Valentine’s
Day, and have rescheduled it for the Monday following Mother’s Day,” noted Eric
Warner, the track director of racing.” We apologize for any inconveniences we
may have caused to those who have planned on driving in that race but the
weather will be a lot nicer in mid-May.”
Monticello Raceway’s next Heritage Drivers Series event, the
St. Paddy Pace for drivers of Irish heritage will be contested on
Thursday, March 15 (the raceway is dark on Sat. March 17). The St Paddy Pace
will be followed by the Passover Pace for drivers of Jewish heritage on
Thursday, April 12.
In all, eight different ethnic events will be
contested during the season with the winners of each race coming back for the
All America Cup in the early fall.
