Shady City takes Tioga Downs Open Pace !$12,000).

Shady City (Larry Staulbaum) uses a gutsy performance to win Tioga Downs feature on Monday Night (June 19).  The 7-year-old Metropolitan gelding who is owned by Staulbaum and trained by Kimberly Asher was parked first-over half of the race.  Hot Deuce (Drew Monti) would control the pace right after the first quarter, all the way to the top of the stretch.  The constant pressure from Shady City was too much for Hot Deuce as he tired to finish 5th.  Maxdaddy Blue Chip (Mickey Mc Nichol) made a sweeping move at the top of the stretch and looked like he was going to take the feature.  Shady City the Buffalo Raceway shipper battled back to win by a head in 1:50.4 to win his third straight race.  Maxdaddy Bluechip settled for second as Rockstar (Mike Simons) came flying late to finish third.

Courtney Wright trains big winner at Tioga Friday night.

Courtey Wright always puts her horses in on time, never complains what post her horses get and is just an overall nice person.  It's hard not to root for somebody like that.  On Friday nights card (June 16), she entered Exotic Fling (Western Ideal).  Exotic Fling ($47.80) was driven by leading driver Mike Simons while owned by Laurie Patistas.  Simons would make a three wide move at the top of the stretch and go by to get the upset win in 1:54.4.  Coming up late to get second was Strawb's Chippie N (Rick Dane Jr.).  Finishing third was Kissed By A Dragon (Aaron Byron).

For Wright it was her third training win of the season at Tioga Downs.  It just proves that nice people don't have to finish last.

Live racing returns to Tioga Downs on Friday June 23rd.  Post time is 6:45.
