HAMBURG, N.Y. --- It an attempt to make it easier for fans
and horsemen to understand the condition sheets, Buffalo Raceway will institute
an Open I through IV classification for the trotters and pacers beginning on
Wednesday, June 14. The draw for this program will be on Saturday, June 10.
"We won't have to add conditions anymore to fill
races," Buffalo Raceway Race Secretary Tom Agosti said. "Sometimes it
ends up like reading a book on all the conditions we had to add to fill races.
For the next couple of weeks, we'll have what parameters your horse needs to
have to enter the Opens. It will be easier for me to move a horse or two
around. But after that, it will be like an Open, Open II on so on. It will be
easier for the fans to understand as well."
Agosti added that horses winning two of their last four
races in claiming and conditioned races will be required to move up in class.
Also at Buffalo Raceway, a reminder that Saturday's 12-race
card will have a special 7 p.m. post to allow patrons to watch and wager on the
Belmont Stakes from Belmont Park. There will be free past performances sheets
for Belmont Park's card and Player Reward Club members will earn double points
on all their wagers.
Doors for simulcasting will open at 10 a.m. on Saturday with
Belmont's first post coming at 11:35 a.m.
The track has cancelled racing on Friday, June 16.
