YONKERS, NY, Monday, April 13, 2015—If
you carry over, they shall invest.
Jump-started by “leftovers” in excess of
$4,300 ($4,361.40, to be precise) and Monday night’s usual
$10,000 guaranteed pool, Yonkers Raceway’s Pick 5 found an audience.
A total of
$20,640 fresh coin was bet into the gimmick, creating a total pool (after
takeout) of $19,841 and some change. The winning combination of 1/8/5/4/1
returned $1,803.75 for every correct half-a-buck wager.
The Pick 5 is a
50-cent base wager offered each racing program (races 7 through 11). It has no
consolation payoff, so if no one selects all five winners (as was the case
Saturday), the entire pool (minus takeout) moves to the next program ($10,000
guaranteed pool every Monday).
The Raceway’s live season continues
Tuesday (first post 1 PM, second round of YR/SOA of NY Bonus Trotting Series),
then Thursday through Saturday (all at 7:10 PM, with fifth rounds of Matchmaker
and Levy Series Friday and Saturday). Evening simulcasting accompanies all
nighttime programs, with afternoon simulcasting available daily.
