P H SUPERCAM BEHIND EIGHT-BALL FOR SATURDAY’S 529G FINAL OF LEVY SERIES

BY FRANK DRUCKER, Publicity Director, Empire City @ Yonkers Raceway

YONKERS, NY, Tuesday, April 21, 2015—The post position gods gazed at P H Supercam and mocked him.

Defending George Morton Levy Memorial Pacing Series champ? Don’t care.

Won all four of his series starts this season, leading in prelim points?  Big whoop.

New-minted millionaire? You’d better bring more to the table than that.

The overseers of the open draw made sure P H Supercam is going to have it earn it. He sits in the lovely eight-hole Saturday night (Apr.25) for Yonkers Raceway’s $529,000 final of the season’s tribute to the Hall of Fame founder of Roosevelt Raceway. The 28th edition of the Levy—a Free-For-All event—is the sport’s richest race of the season to date.

It goes as the eighth race of Yonkers’ dozen-race card (first post 7:10 PM, feature approximately 9:50 PM).

The draw…1-Domethatagain (Dan Dube), 2-Lucan Hanover (Dave Miller), 3-Windsong Jack (Brian Sears), 4-Beach Memories (Yannick Gingras), 5-Take it Back Terry (George Brennan). 6-Polak A (Sears also listed), 7-Mach it So (Tim Tetrick), 8-P H Supercam (Jason Bartlett).  Note that Mach it So and P H Supercam race as a common ownership/trainer entry.

The evening co-featured $261,000 final of the Blue Chip Matchmaker (Open Pacing Mares) goes as the sixth race (approx. post 9 PM). It’s the second-richest harness race of 2015 to this point.

The draw…1-Venus Delight (Bartlett), 2-Yagonnakissmeornot (Sears), 3-Fancy Desire (Matt Kakaley), 4-Carolsideal (Dube),  5-Monkey on My Wheel (Sears also listed), 6-Strings (Eric Carlson), 7-Krispy Apple (Tetrick), 8-Camille (Brennan). Note a pair of coupled common-ownership/trainer entries in Venus Delight and Krispy Apple & Yagonnakissmeornot and Carolsideal.

Two series consolations were carded as races 5 (Matchmaker, $75,000) and 7 (Levy, $100,000), along with a $50,000 race for eligibles to the Levy (fourth race). Changes to the Saturday program are to be made Wednesday morning (Apr. 22), with story updated accordingly.
