Radar Contact Doubles Up at The Meadowlands

Back to back wins in The Meadowands Mare Pacing Feature

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ – (Friday, April 10, 2015) Radar Contact entered the $27,500 Mares Open Handicap Friday Night at The Meadowlands on quite a roll.  In fact, she had not been worse than second in her last six starts.  That would not change as the seven year old daughter of Dontgetinmyway took the field wire to wire score back to back wins at the top level for the mare pacers in 1:50.3 as the even money favorite.

John Campbell wasted no time with his mare, establishing the early lead instantaneously off the gate.  She would soar through fractions of 27.1, 55.4 and 1:24 with no pressure.  Just like the week before, Inittowinafortune sat the pocket throughout behind the favorite.  Meanwhile, Rocklamation making her first start of the season, was relegating to the trailing position from her outside post.  That is where she remained throughout the mile, unable to launch a rally upon her return.  Through the stretch, Radar Contact was able to keep Inittowinafortune at bay, powering home in a 26.3 final quarter to win impressively.  Cherry Bliss, making her Meadowlands debut maintained her position flashing good pace to be third.

Radar Contact is trained by Noel Daley for Charles Stillings and Dean Ehrgott.

The win was the fourth on the season for Radar Contact, bringing her earnings this season to $78,200.
The $27,500 Open Handicap Trot featured Melady’s Monet who had won three consecutive editions of the top-level trot, but six year old gelding did not fire tonight, finishing a distanced last.  Tonight, Wind Of The North brought his A-game, following a wire to wire performance at Dover.  The five year old gelding did the same thing at The Meadowlands tonight, trotting through fractions of 27.2, 57 and 1:25.1.  On the far turn, he received a challenge from the other Dover invader, Tough Mac, and the pair sprinted away from the field, opening up several lengths on Rolls Blue Chip who had been sitting the pocket.  At the mid-point of the stretch, Wind Of The North put away Tough Mac, but was faced with a monstrous rally by Lindy’s Tru Grit who came from well-back and sprinted a final quarter in 26.3, but was simply left with a bit too much to do and would finish second to Wind Of The North.  Master of Law rallied to be third.

The winner was driven by Dave Miller for Daryl Bier who trains and co-owns the gelding with Joann Dobeck.  Wind Of The North completed the mile in 1:53.1

Tonight’s GSY Amateur trotting event went to Robert Hechkoff and Bambino Hall in 1:57.3.  Hannah Miller put forth another good effort in the series finishing second with Casanova Lindy.

Both Jackpot Super Hi-5 wagers continued their carryovers, with the fifth race carryover growing to $76,092 and the last race carryover reaching $41,497.  Both carryovers will roll into the Saturday program which features a 13-race card that begins at 7:15 P.M.
