YONKERS, NY, Monday, April 6,
2015—Buoyed by a carryover in excess of $4,500 ($4,529.90,
to be precise) and Monday night’s usual $10,000 guaranteed pool, Yonkers
Raceway’s Pick 5 had more interest than usual.
Nearly $16,000
of fresh money ($15,995.04, to be precise) was bet into the gimmick, creating a
total pool (after takeout) of $16,536.15. The winning combination of 2/5/1/3/5
returned $972 for every correct half-a-buck wager.
The Pick 5 is a
50-cent base wager offered each racing program (races 7 through 11). It has no
consolation payoff, so if no one selects all five winners (as was the case
Saturday), the entire pool (minus takeout) moves to the next program ($10,000
guaranteed pool every Monday).
The Raceway’s live season continues with
a French-centric Tuesday (first post 1 PM), then Thursday through Saturday (all
at 7:10 PM, with fourth rounds of Matchmaker and Levy series Friday and
Saturday). Evening simulcasting accompanies all nighttime programs, with
afternoon simulcasting available daily.
