CKG Billings - KRIVELIN; OLDFORD; POINT LEADERS IN BILLINGS SERIES

What is sometimes referred to as “the Grand Circuit of Amateur Racing” the C.K.G. Billings Harness Driving Championship Series  rolls on during its 31st season.  The success of  amateur racing  in the Billings Series is responsible for spawning many local amateur clubs and with the growth of the movement amateur racing has now gained respectability and amateur events are presented on race cards at an ever growing number of racetracks in North America.

On July 13th Monticello Raceway hosted  it’s second successful All-Amateur Day—Billings trots included--  where every horse on the  13-race betting card was driven by an amateur driver.
This weekend Billings Series races in the Eastern Region will be at Yonkers Raceway on Friday night, July 27 and at the Summit Fair at Northfield Park in the Midwest Region the following evening.

As the Series heads toward its halfway point Bob “the Rapid Rail” Krivelin and Steve “You’re Never Too” Oldford continue as headers in their respective regions.
In the east, Krivelin’s 67 points are fiver better than runner-up Dave “Steady As” Yarock’s, 62. Bob “the Headhunter” Hechkoff is third with 61 points followed by Tony “The Capo” Verruso (61) and Peter “the Past President” Gerry (47).

Oldford is running away with the point lead in the Midwest . His 42 points are 25 better than runner-up John “Johnny Camps” Campagnuolo’s, 17. Third place currently belongs to Dein “the Jupiter Gem” Spriggs  with 15 followed by Mike “the Doo Wop Doc” Caston’s, 14. “Lady Kara Sue” Buxton  and “Neon Leon” Cable, each with seven points, are tied for fifth.
Upcoming Billings events are slated at the Meadowlands on August 2nd and at Running Acres Horse Park on August 4th.
