If Not Why Not wins Vernon feature.

 If Not Why Not (Brett Crawford) captures the $5,600 featured trot at Vernon Downs on Thursday (July 16).

Jenny Lake (Leon Bailey) got the early but Piercewave Hanover (Jordan Derue) took over before hitting the first quarter in :27.3.   He would use a 30.2 second quarter as he hit the half  on top in :58.0.  If Nor Why Not ($2.90) made his move going first over from third hitting three-quarters first in 1:27.2.

Jenny Lake then became the major danger and gave it a valiant effort but IF Not Why Not was too much in the end  winning in 1:54.3.  Jenny Lake settled for second.  Piercewave Hanover held on for third.

IF Not Why Not is a 5-year-old gelding by Muscle Mass.  He is owned by Michael Polansky and trained by Kyle Spagnola.  It was win number four of 2020.  He now has 17 career victories.  Spagnola and Crawford also teamed up for a win with Five Towns ($6.60)

Howard Parker had two wins on the night as he leads all drivers at Vernon Downs with 20 wins.  Jimmy Whittemore, also had a pair of wins and is second with 18 trips to the winner's circle.  Leon Bailey finds himself in third with 16 victories.

George Ducharme and David Dewhurst are the top trainers so far this season with nine wins a piece.  Misty Carey is third with seven wins with Marissa Chadbourne and Kerin Warnerare tied for in fourth with six wins each

Vernon Downs returns to live racing on Saturday (July 18) with a 13-race card starting at 4 p.m.
