If Not Why Not takes Vernon feature.

If Not Why Not (Brett Crawford) captures the $5,600 featured trot at Venom Downs on Friday (July 10).

Spoiler Alert (Leon Bailey) jumped to lead right out of the gate.  If Not Why Not ($4.90) took over just before hitting the first quarter in :26.4.  He would use a :30.2 second quarter to hit the half in :57.1.  Cartier Volo (Claude Huckabone Jr.) was the first to make a move but just sputtered on his first-over trip.  If Not Why Not led to three-quarters in 1:26..2.

As they made the turn for home the only one with a chance to steal the victory was Spoiler Alert.  If Not Why Not was just too strong and won in a seasonal best of 1:54.0.  Spoiler Alert settled for second best.  Southwind Falcon (Ron Harp) was third.

If Not Why Not is a 5-year-old gelding by Muscle Mass.  He is owned by Michael Polansky and trained by Kyle Spagnola.  The win was the third this season and the 16th win of his career.

Spagnola and Crawford team up for two wins on the night their other win came with Five Towns ($9.40).  Leon Bailey, Roman Lopez, and Howard Parker all had driving doubles.

Vernon Downs returns to live racing on Saturday with a 15-race card featuring New York Sire Stakes (NYSS) trotting fillies racing for a purse of $114,000.  Post time is 1:10 p.m.
