HAMBURG, N.Y. --- BZ Glide ($10.20) made it a joyous
celebration of his 100th career start on Friday night (May 26) with a neck
victory over Jim Dandy in Buffalo Raceway's featured $10,000 Open Trot in
2:00.0 over the good track.
It was the 31st time in his career that the 8-year-old
gelded BZ Glide (Yankee Glide-Bloomer Zoomer) has found the winner's circle.
The victory was the first in three tries this season for BZ Glide, now a winner
of $208,597 lifetime.
The favored Kahoku (Ron Beback Jr.) set the fractions of
28.2, 59.0 and 1:29.4 in the main event and brought BZ Glide in tow.
At the top of the lane, Kahoku bid everyone a good night
while BZ Glide (Mike Caprio) was anxiously waiting to drop into the passing
lane and trotted first to the line. Jim Dandy (Jim McNeight Jr.) made a serious
attempt to collar BZ Glide late but ran out of real estate and finished just a
neck behind. Southern Palms (Jim Morrill Jr.) took the show spot.
BZ Glide is owned by the Caprio Stable LLC and is trained by
Alana Caprio.
Morrill completed the night with four victories while
trainers Maria Rice and Gerry Sarama registered doubles.
Racing will continue on Saturday night at 6 p.m. with an
11-race card scheduled.
