Amateur Hour captures Gail's Diner Pace final at Tioga.

John Horne for Tioga Downs.

Leading driver Mike Simons pilots Amateur Hour to gutsy win in Gail's Diner Pace final ($23,400) at Tioga Downs Saturday night (May 27).   The 3 year-old filly by Rock N Roll Heaven took over the lead  from entry mate Under The Bus (Fern Paquet Jr.) at the three-quarter mark.  At the top of the stretch Amateur Hour would be attacked by Playing Favorites (Mike Merton) and Dr J's Kiss (Tom Jackson).  Just when it looked like Playing Favorites was going to go by Amateur Hour battled back to hang on for the victory.

Trained by Linda Toscano for owners Fred Wallace, Camelot stables and Kenneth Jacobs, Amateur Hour ($3.70) scored the mile in 1:51.4.  Paying Favorites took second and Dr J's Kiss finished third.

Tioga Downs hosts the New York Sire Stakes for 3 year-old filly trotters at a special post time of 6:50 Sunday night (May 28).
