NEW JERSEY GUBERNATORIAL CANDIDATE PHIL MURPHY VISITS MEADOWLANDS RACETRACK

Murphy outlines support for New Jersey equine industry

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ (July 20, 2017) – Phil Murphy, the New Jersey gubernatorial candidate, visited the Meadowlands Racetrack last Saturday night.

A crowd of more than 10,000 was on hand to see a star-studded night of harness racing headlined by the $738,550 Crawford Farms Meadowlands Pace, the track’s signature race. Murphy presented the trophy to the winning owners of Huntsville, who scored a thrilling victory over Downbytheseaside.

Murphy addressed the large crowd in the building as well as an international audience watching via web stream and live television. He voiced his support for New Jersey’s entire equine industry and the need for strong leadership at the state level.

“This is a gem in our state and I think our best days in the racing industry, whether it’s standardbred or thoroughbred, the best days in the horse industry, the equine industry, are ahead of us,” said Murphy.
