YONKERS, NY, Thursday, March 3,
2016—Yonkers Raceway’s 2016 stakes season begins next Monday evening (March 7)
and Tuesday afternoon (March 8), with opening rounds of the Petticoat and
Sagamore Hill Pacing Series.
The events, for 3- and 4-year-old girls (Petticoat)
and boys (Sagamore Hill) are for those who were non-winners of four races
and/or $40,000 through this past Dec. 1.
Each prelim race in these series goes for
$20,000. The Petticoat has four divisions (races 2,4,6 and 7), while the
Sagamore Hill solicited six events (races 1,3,5,6,7 and 9).
Both the Petticoat and Sagamore Hill offer
three legs, leading to $50,000 (added) finals March 28 and 29, respectively.
