Missevil Plenty Good In Buffalo Raceway Feature

by Brian J. Mazurek, for Buffalo Raceway

HAMBURG, N.Y. --- Missevil showed she was plenty good in Buffalo Raceway's $8,200 featured pace for the mares on Wednesday night (March 9) as she enjoyed a perfect pocket trip to earn a half length victory over Dontch Remember in 1:56.3 over the fast track.

On a perfect night for racing with temperatures hovering around 70, Ugly Betty (Billy Davis Jr.) managed to grab the lead to the quarter pole and handed out a parking ticket to Ding (Ron Beback Jr.) along the way. In the meantime, Missevil ($7.10) enjoyed the scuffle on the front end and drafted along perfectly in the garden spot, biding her time until the top of the stretch.

In the race to the wire, driver Jack Flanigen dropped Missevil into the 'lightning lane' and easily flew past the tiring Ugly Betty to score the win. Dontch Remember (Ray Fisher Jr.) showed some late kick to take second while Ugly Betty hung on for third.

It was the third victory in nine starts this season for Missevil (Armbro Deuce-Impudent Hall) and moved her seasonal winnings to $14,159 and $74,260 lifetime The 5-year-old mare is owned by Vogel & Wags Nags Stables, Chris Shambo and Jack Rice. Maria Rice handled the training duties.

Buffalo Raceway's leading driver Jack Flanigen scored a triple on the night while Drew Monti and Jim McNeight had a pair of wins.

Racing will resume on Friday night with a 12-race card scheduled for 5 p.m.
