SBOANJ - ALAGNA SENDS OUT TWO NJSS WINNERS

MANALAPAN, NJ – July 13, 2012 – A pair of Tony Alagna-trained fillies accounted for victories in half of the four opening leg divisions of the New Jersey Sire Stakes for two-year-old pacers on Friday, July 13, 2012 at the Meadowlands.

In the $24,500 fifth race, Alagna sent out Acquavella by Western Ideal, and she posted her first career victory in her second start with a length and a half tally over Miss Lauren [Cam’s Card Shark] and Hilarious Hayley [Rocknroll Hanover].  Mike Lachance was at the lines for the 1:53.4 mile.  The winner races for John Carver and Mel Hartman.

Alagna was back in the winner’s circle in the $25,000 eighth race with a filly he owns, Sombodythatiustono [Tell All], who finished a head in front of Jerseylicious [Western Ideal].  Ideal A Little [Western Ideal] was third by two and a half lengths.

Sombodythatiustono, driven by Andy Miller, covered the mile in 1:53.1 in her career debut.

In the first of two divisions for colts, Troon [Rocknroll Hanover] was a three-quarter length winner over the Alagna-trained Cyclone [Rocknroll Hanover] in a 1:54 mile.  Matt’s Away Ten [Matt’s Scooter] was two and three-quarters back, finishing third in the $24,000 third race.’

VIP Internet Stable and Gary Bury own Troon who is trained by John Butenschoen.

In the $24,500 sixth race, Don’t Ya Know [Western Ideal] was a neck winner over Johny Rock [Rocknroll Hanover] in 1:54.  Edington [Rocknroll Hanover] was three-quarters of a length back in third.

Don’t Ya Know, driven by Corey Callahan and trained by Joe Holloway, races in the name of Bluestone Farm, Kitty Hawk Stable and Val D’Or Farms.
