On the trotting side, Neely Spring went gate to
wire to win the $16,300 first division. The race was Neely Spring’s second
victory in three lifetime starts. The colt was victorious at the Hilliard
fair on July 14. Dan Noble piloted the colt for owner Fred Polk and Trainer
Eric Nesselroad. Noble steered Neely Spring through fractional times of
30.2, 1:03, 134 and 2:04. The clocking represents a lifetime mark for the
Neely Dunn colt. Finishing behind Neely
spring was Master Miracle, Flashy Cash, Chet N Spanky and
Sundaysacoming. Neely Spring returned $2.80 for the win.
Heza Rube took the $16,300 second division for
two-year old colt and gelding Ohio-breds for Northfield Park Wall of Fame
trainer Marty Wollam. The Master Lavec
gelding started from post five and sustained a successful bid to easily
overhaul Masterdream Chaser. Kurt Sugg
drove for owner Bob Troyer. It was his
second career start and the youngster remains undefeated, winning his first
race on July 4 at Scioto Downs. Third
behind Masterdream Chaser was Clipper Power followed by Final Breath, Sammy
Sammy Sammy and Trottin On Over. Heza Rube paid $4.00 to win.
Feelin Lika Winner was impressive winning the
$17,200 first pacing division. Kayne Kauffman drove the gelding for
trainer Scot Mogan and owners Diamond Chip Stable, AWS Stable, C. Guiler and S.
Mogan. The son of Feelin Friskie sat third, watching rivals Friskie By
Design and Phantom duel through opening fractions of 27.2 and 56.3. Kauffman brushed the Feelin Lika Winner at the
half, took the lead and never looked back.
Feelin Lika Winner tripped the three-quarters in 1:27.1 and finishedthe
mile in 1:56.3. This was first victory
in two starts. Finishing in succession
after the winner were Outdoor Fever, Phantom Flasher, Chief Friskie, Friskie By
Design and Back Mount. Feelin Lika
Winner returned $2.60 to win.
The final Ohio Sires Stake race of the evening was the
$17,200 second division for two year-old colt and gelding pacers. That Friske Feelin was the benefactor of soft
fractions to remain undefeated in three races.
Driver Kyle Ater had That Friske Feelin, a son of Friske Feelin, in
front through virtually the entire mile.
They set fractions of 29.1, 1:00, 1:29.3 and 1:57.4. Jim Arledge Jr trains this gelding for owners
Howard Taylor, Edwin Gold and Richard Lombardo.
Completing the event was My Last Chance, Forever Kissed, Dusto,
Sectionline Road and River Valley Pearl.
Friske Feelin paid $2.20 to win as the 1-9 favorite.
