Starting July 7, the Saturday Pick 4 will feature a $100,000 pool guarantee. The Thursday and Friday pools are secured at $50,000. For the 2012 racing season, the Meadowlands Pick 4 pool has averaged $76,749. The average payoff this year is $2,990, up nearly 50 percent from the 2011 average payoff of $2,099. A $1 wager, the Pick 4 spans races six through nine.
On nights when the pool guarantees are not met, the effective takeout on the Pick 4 and other guaranteed wagers becomes even lower due to the added money, creating a great value situation for bettors.
The Friday Pick 6 pool will be guaranteed at $10,000 (for six-of-six) starting July 6. A $20,000 guaranteed Pick 5 pool also remains in effect each night. The Pick 5, offered on the first five races, will also feature a lower 15 percent takeout starting Friday.
A Super High Five wager, which will feature a $20,000 guaranteed pool, will make its debut Saturday, July 7. A 10-cent bet, the Super High Five requires horseplayers to correctly select the top five finishers in a race. The wager will be offered on the last race of the night.
An additional Pick 3 wager, placed in race seven, will also join the nightly wagering line-up.
