Hennessey and Deters team up to sweep features at Tioga.

Wally Hennesey is turning Tioga Downs into Wally World as the two-time defending driver’s champion drove six more winners on Sunday (May 16).   He took down both features with trainer Mike Deters.

Hennessey and Deters win the $9,000 Open trot with Burn Notice ($4.90).

Askmelater Hanover (Jim Taggart Jr.) charged to the front and led to the first quarter in :27.1.  The lead was short lived as Burn Notice went to the front. Lightfootedlegend (Renaldo Morales III) decided they wanted the lead and they now took control as they went by the stands for the first time.  Lightfootedlegendl marched to the half in :55.1 and to three-quarters in 1:24.0.

As they made the turn for home Burn Notice fired out of the pocket and burned home in a new lifetime mark of 1:52.3.  Lightfootedlegend had to settle for second money.  BJ Lorado (Braxton Boyd) finished third.

Burn Notice is 6-year-old gelding by Cayenne Turbo.  He is owned by WHR Trust.  IT was his fifth win this season.  He now has 18 career victories.

Prairie Panther ($4.80) sweeps up to take the $9,000 Open Pace.

Machiatto A (Jim Meittinis) went straight to the front and led to the first quarter in :26.3 and to the half in :55.1.  Prairie Panther moved first-up and flushed out Night Watchman (Phil Fluet) as they reached the back stretch.  Night Watchman took the lead and led to three-quarters in 1:23.0.

As they headed to the finish Prairie Panther found another gear and held off a late charge by runner-up Caviart Reagan (Braxton Boyd) to win in a seasonal best time of 1:51.0.  Night Watchman had to settle for third.

Prairie Panther is a 7-year-old gelding by Royal Millennium.  Deters is co-owner with Laurie Poulin.  It was his fourth win of 2021.  He now has 45 career victories.

Deters and Hennessey combined for another win with Johnny Chip ($3.30).  Hennessey got his other wins with Joey Pro ($8.00), Rousseau ($7.20), and Harry Terror ($9.80).

Tioga Downs returns to Live racing on Saturday (May 22) starting at 6:15 p.m.
