Austin Siegelman wins 5 at Monticello Raceway

On Thursday afternoon at Monticello Raceway (September 7) Austin Siegelman owned the middle part of the racing card and won 5 consecutive races.  The winning streak started in race 7 and continued through race 11.  Winbak Prince ($6.10) got the party started for Siegelman in the 7th race, winning by 7 lengths in 1:56. The aptly named Winning ($3.30) made it 2 in row, Goodness Grace (PP2) the Mary Martin trained Conway Hall filly was next in 2:04.1. In race 10, True Muscle (PP5) scored for Siegelman and trainer Thomas Merton in 2:00, the quintuplet came with Sammy B Happy 1:57.2 - $8.50.

Austin Siegelman, the former Rising Star award recipient from the Monticello – Goshen Chapter of the United States Harness Writers Association (USHWA) is ranked 6th in the driver’s colony at Monticello for leading dash winners with 77.  The aggressive and mature Siegelman has recently found his niche at Monticello Raceway, his UDRS prior to today was a respectable .310.  Total handle on the live card was $547,000.

Live Racing action resumes Monday afternoon at 12:50, New York Sire Stakes (NYSS) return to Monticello Raceway on Tuesday September 12, when 3-year-old pacing fillies take center stage.
