Asgoodasioncewas
embarks on next journey
By Mark Ratzky, publicity – Cal Expo Harness
As it turns out,
Asgoodasioncewas made his final start when he finished third here on March 25,
and is now ready to move on to the next phase of his life.
An 11-year-old Kentucky-bred
son of Jenna’s Beach Boy out of the Abercrombie mare Adjust My Halo, he most
recently went about his business for owner Scott Ehrlich and driver/trainer
Steve Wiseman.
When all was said and done on
the racetrack, Asgoodasioncewas had $115,000 in his bank account and a 1:55 lifetime
standard that was established back in 2009.
“After just missing second,
Asgoodasioncewas came up sore two days later,” Ehrlich explained. “We had our
vet David Valcheck check/x-ray him the following day and he showed some
physical issues.
After discussing these issues
with Steve, his wife Kathie and David, and considering his age and what the
future of racing held for him, we decided that the old guy would call it a
career.
“With roughly 30-60 days
rest, he’ll be good to go as a trail riding horse. He is a very sweet horse,
who loves donuts by the way, and I’d be more than happy to give him to someone
who will provide him with a loving home for what is hopefully a long life.”

Congratulations to James
Kennedy, who recorded the 1,000th win of his career when he guided
Lincoln to victory in last Saturday night’s fifth race.
Trotting Sire Stakes
lures My Little Susie
My Little Susie, who already
has three stakes trophies this season, gets the marquee treatment in Sunday
evening’s featured $10,000 California Sire Stakes for the 3-year-old trotters.
A field of six will face
starter Ken Fowler, with the contest going as the third contest on the 10-race
program. First post is set for 5:05 p.m.
My Little Susie is a daughter
of Claudius Augustus out of the SJ’s Photo mare Sue’s Photo who carries the
banner of A Piece Of The Action LLC with Gene Vallandingham training and Chip
Lackey once again doing the honors.
The bay miss was a clear-cut
winner of the first two stakes races for this group at the meet, then caught a
sloppy track in the next gathering and had to settle for second behind Kissed
The Boys in that affair.
My Little Susie returned to
her winning ways in the most recent stakes clash two weeks ago when back on a
fast track, as Lackey sat a stalking trip to the lane and then motored by in
the stretch for a three and a half-length decision.
Kissed The Boys is the other
stakes victress in the field and she is another daughter of Claudius Augustus
who is owned and was bred by Desomer Stables with Vickie Desomer training and
husband Steve in the sulky.
She has captured three of her
eight starts, with each of those victories coming on off tracks. Her March 13
Sire Stakes score saw her brushing to command past the quarter and going on to
a handy score. Completing the field are Delta Breezeoflodi, CW Raisinette,
Sixstringsandapick and Lodi Bank Robber.
