HAMBURG, N.Y. --- The New York Sire Stakes continues to
march through Buffalo Raceway and the 2-year-old filly pacers will get their
opportunity to strut their stuff in a pair of $54,000 divisions on Wednesday
night (July 3).
The contests are set as the fourth and sixth events on the
12-race program that begins at 5 p.m. With warm, muggy conditions expected,
they could be firing at the track record for their classification which is
1:56.2 set in 2016 by She's A Millionair.
Most of the babies will be in action for just the second
time in their young careers but three have already tasted victory.
So Rude (So Surreal-A Am A Snob) tops the field in the first
division and will score from the six post for Matt Kakaley. She made her debut
on June 24 at Monticello Raceway and registered a 3/4 length win in 1:57.3 in
the New York Sire Stakes. So Rude covered the final panel in :27.4 in rallying
for the victory and with the long Buffalo Raceway home stretch on the horizon,
she should be a serious factor late.
Precious Alexis (Art Major-Put On A Display) will start from
the eight post and gets the services of Jim Morrill Jr. She lost a
heart-breaking neck decision in her first try at Monticello Raceway to Hidden
Cove in the NYSS.
Sugaronthebeach (Kevin Cummings), The Fun Marshall (Billy
Davis Jr.), Kitty Hoyne (Jimmy Whittemore) and American Chance (Jonathan Drury)
are entered and each have started in the Sire Stakes in their career
debuts.
Spreckles (Drew Monti) arrives fresh off her maiden victory
in the Excelsior A Series at Monticello in 1:59.0. Fashion Hill (Tyler Buter)
rounds out the full field of eight.
The other bracket has Racine Bell (So Surreal-Ty's Artist)
tabbed as the 3-1 favorite from the seven post with Cummings in the bike. She
collected her first career win back on June 7 in a maiden race by 3-1/4 lengths
at Vernon Downs in 1:56.1. She then travel to Monticello on June 24 where she
suffered a tough 1-1/2 setback to Cash Roll in the Sire Stakes.
The highly competitive field also includes the Scott Di
Domenico entry of Bolt Of Speed (Kakaley) and Bottle Of Red (Monti) along with
Rare Jimstone (Morrill Jr.), Galleria Gal (Buter), Movie Town (Drury), Roll
With Angel (Ray Fisher Jr.) and Jackie's Express (Whittemore).
The day's action will kickoff at 4:30 p.m. with a
non-betting race in the Excelsior B Series while a $15,000 division in the
Excelsior A Series opens the program in the first.
